    The location was nice and quiet with plenty of walking and places to visit. I even managed to get my car turned around doing a 3 point turn, was very pleased with myself.

The property

Chimney View is an elegantly-styled bungalow perfect for couples or a family holiday situated in the peaceful village of Copley, County Durham.This all ground-floor accommodation comes with two brightly decorated bedrooms, each boasting a well-presented king-size double bed and ample storage and space to house your holiday belongings.

Look forward to spending sociable evenings within the spacious sitting room, where you can curl up on the plush L-shape sofa which rests in front of a warming wood burning stove.

Fulfilling your culinary needs is the contemporary kitchen, where you will find all the essentials you could possibly need to whip up delicious evenings meals before the rest of the group gather at the island unit to plan the days ahead.

If you are visiting during the summer months, choose to dine alfresco on the patio area whilst soaking up the superb countryside views and location.

The bungalow was named Chimney View as it has views of the original lead mill chimney, a local land mark which is steeped in history.

Nearby you will find a pub within 1 mile and a shop can be found within 1.5 miles.

If you can tear yourself away from this endearing cottage, nearby attractions include Hamsterley Forest with its tall pines, classic woodland walks, including a Gruffalo trail, picnic areas and challenging cycle routes.

Raby Castle dating back to the 14th century situated in 200 acres of deer park is also a must visit, along with the stunning waterfalls at High Force and Cauldron Snout.

The market town of Barnard Castle is just 6 miles away with its castle ruins, charming cobbled streets, golf course, weekly market, and impressive Bowes Museum.

Bishop Auckland is just 8 miles away, this lively town is the home of Kynren which takes place every weekend from July to September.

A short drive brings you into the heart of Durham, with its majestic cathedral.

The counties of North Yorkshire, Northumberland and Cumbria can all be reached within an hour’s drive making Chimney View a superb base for exploring the North of England with your loved ones.

Set between the pretty market towns of Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle is the sleepy little village of Butterknowle, near to Hamsterley Forest. Head West to spend the day in Barnard Castle, set on the site of a Roman fort, where the medieval castle ruins still tower over the River Tees. The town boasts quaint cobbled streets, yards and back lanes, which were first laid out in the 12th century, along with rows of attractive, old stone houses. The town centre hosts an arts complex should you be in search of a bit of culture, whilst there’s a range of independent shops to peruse, where you’re certain to find the perfect holiday keepsake. A short drive eastward from Butterknowle brings you to bustling town of Bishop Auckland, elevated above the River Wear and known as the Gateway to Weardale.On the outskirts of the town you can wander the ancient stones of the Binchester Roman Fort, the largest in the county. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep of this village, with the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a few miles away, whilst an array of interesting towns and a wealth of historic attractions can all be found within an easy drive.
