Appreciated the biscuits and milk on arrival. It is a beautiful area and setting where we cold relax.

"My wife and I had a short 3 day stay at The Wheelhouse to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary."
It was an absolute delight. The Cottage was very clean and well equipped. The beds were most comfortable and the Cottage felt warm and cosy. The hosts were friendly and were quick to help out when we couldn’t work out how to switch the TV on ! The locals were very friendly and the nearby village shop was useful. The village is quiet and the Cottage is well positioned next to a small stream. We are planning to return for another stay next year. It was a lovely stay and good value for money.

.The biscuits, tea, milk were very welcome after a long drive. The village is conveniently situated minutes away from A1M Scotch corner. Beds comfortable. Everything you needed for a comfy stay was provided. Would definitely stay again

"Lovely building in a great location."
Very clean and comfortable. All the facilities you could possibly need. Attention to detail was admirable. In depth information pack was great and Barton was a perfect location for exploring the area. Really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave.

"We had a most enjoyable stay ."
The property was pristine when it came to cleanliness , and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful . We found that Barton was a good base to explore from . The locals in the village were all friendly too . The biscuits and milk on arrival were most appreciated . Weather was a bit chilly but that didn't stop us at all , the Dales and its towns and villages are really worth visiting . Leyburn was a favourite of ours .
-
"Although the weather was poor, and this was not the fault of the owners or of Sykes, every other aspect of the holiday was great."
Stunning location by in a corner by the village green, the beck and willow trees, excellent centre for touring north Yorkshire and County Durham. Pleasant, quiet village with friendly residents. I would recommend it to anyone, especially to a couple or to a single occupant wanting a secluded retreat. if I go again my only wish would be for warm sunny weather.
-
"Fabulous cottage, great location, comfy beds and sofas."
We had the benefit of good weather even if the rain storm was unexpected it was atmospheric and refreshing. Biccies, milk and coffee were a nice welcome on our arrival. No complaints re cleanliness or equipment other than a broken tin opener. Easy access to lots of places to visit - Bedale, Leyburn, Reeth, Ripon, Thirsk, Durham, York, Helmsley. Will definitely visit again.
-
"Such a great find !"
Just gorgeous and immaculate and the location is delightful. The owner is so likeable and on arrival you'll find these little extras like biscuits on the table and milk in the fridge etc. Far more than just basic amenities is provided. Everything shows great care. We wouldn't mind moving in ! It's a truly special place.

"Really enjoyed our stay at The Wheelhouse."
Only a couple of little suggestions, a table to put drinks on when sitting outside and maybe better chairs as they are so small, otherwise great place and the extra little touches by the owner of putting milk in the fridge and providing some cookies was very much appreciated. Great location for visiting places in North Yorkshire and all the neighbours were very friendly.
-
"Spotlessly clean(like brand new)Comfortable bed, good location, pub in village and others 5 min drive away and Richmond just 15 minutes away."
Would strongly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing break
-
"Thank you for the "gift" and the welcome pack."
This is a lovely property, clean, well maintained, just a note on the freezer to say that's what it is would help though as I thought it was another fridge !!. This is our 2nd time here whilst we are at Croft circuit. We will be back. Thank you.
-
"Welcoming, cosy, well-equipped and convenient - all we could have wanted."
We would happily have stayed longer if other commitments had permitted.
-
"The Wheelhouse is just amazing."
Absolutely immaculate, and so well equipped, nothing at all was missing. The beds were so comfortable, took no getting used to. I’ve never seen better folded bathroom towels either ! The attention to detail was superb, the little things like the bathroom cups in bags, the dishcloth, scrub, and gloves in a sealed bag, and the biscuits were a lovely finishing touch. Thank you for making us both welcome and very comfortable.
-

"Very good indeed"
-
"Very comfortable, idyllic setting, with excellent transport links."
Great to have functioning pub in the village, with a warm welcome. We anticipate booking the Wheelhouse again, in the not-too-distant future.
-
"This is a lovely property and we had a lovely stay."
It had everything that we wanted and was very comfortable.
-
"We enjoyed a lovely stay at The Wheelhouse - it's in a great location for exploring the Dales and the Moors/coast."
Kitchen and bathroom were all of a high standard and spotlessly cleaned. Would only say for taller people, the low beams in the upper bedroom will be a serious issue - managed to hit my head a few times and I'm only 5ft2!
-
"Nice place, very clean."
Good hub for walking etc. warm welcome from care taker. Very friendly locals all keen to tell you about the history of the village etc. Second bedroom adequate but bed very low and beams could be an issue for taller people. The only real grumble was the pillows which were like lead and really uncomfortable. Would not put us off stayin again. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you mainly enjoyed your stay. With regard to your comments on the pillows we try to cater for all, and each king size bed has two soft pillows and two firm to give the maximum options. Kind regards Property Owner

"Property was very cosy and everything down to the smallest detail was considered."
. beautiful building. A good place for a base to visit the Dales, the coast and the moors . Just watch your head upstairs !!
-
"Good location, very clean and a lovely property."
Coffee, tea, milk and biscuits left for us - all fresh new packs, much appreciated. Met the owner on the first day, very nice and helpful, no hesitation in going back.

"Lovely cottage, great base for exploring the area."

"The house was great and very clean."
It was comfortable and the cooking and kitchen facilities were very good. There is no private garden for relaxation but this was made clear in the listing. You can sit out on the green but it's not very private. The only minor discomfort was the low bed in the attic room, not for sleeping, but getting in and out of the bed could be problematic for older people. I would highly recommend the property and it was great for exploring the North Yorkshire Dales. We met the owner whilst we there and he was extremely pleasant and accommodating.
-
"Beautiful cottage."
Spotlessly clean and well equipped fir self catering. Comfortable furniture.
-
"We had a wonderful stay at the Wheelhouse, Barton."
This quaint cottage was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. It's in a beautiful, peaceful spot on the village green with the Beck running alongside. Can also recommend the Shoulder of Mutton in Middleton Tyas, five minutes drive away, for a meal.
-
"Attractive property in good village location."
Position perfect for Dales one way and Coast the other. We enjoyed our stay Thank you
-
"Beautiful location, stunning conversion from wheelhouse, very comfortable stay."
Highly recommended!
-
"The Wheelhouse was the perfect base for a wonderful stay in North Yorkshire."
We were welcomed by a selection of goodies including a bottle of fizz in the fridge and sweets and fruit for the kids to get stuck into. Very clean, good sized main bathroom and bedroom and the kitchen has everything you need. Fully stocked DVD library too for cosy nights in front of the wood burner. The property is nestled in amongst stunning weeping willows, right next to a stream, which the kids loved. Incredible what they’ve achieved in the space they have available - highly recommend.

"A very enjoyable few days prior to Xmas."
Cottage was superb in every way, well equipped and complete with Xmas decor and sweeties. Would certainly stay again but take the wellies for the inclement weather.
