  • "Excellent cottage in lovely quiet village."

The cottage has been really well renovated, and had everything we needed for a good holiday. It is very clean and tidy, and very spacious for two people. The lounge is comfortable and roomy, and the kitchen is modern and well equipped. The bedroom is big with plenty of storage space, and the big bathroom has an excellent large shower. (I found best place to park was up against post and rope fence opposite front of the cottage) The cottage overlooks the huge village green which extends across the road past the two pubs. Give the Kirk Inn a visit - the 21st century may have past it by, but it has a unique charm(?) and a genial host. Don't forget to take cash, no cards. Also the cafe in the Bowes Museum in Barnard castle does excellent lunches. There are plenty of walks directly from the cottage and lots more only a short drive away. I would definitely recommend this cottage for a holiday.

  • "Holly Garth is very comfortable and well appointed cottage in Romaldkirk, which itself is a very attractive village."

It is an ideal location for walking in Teesdale, Weardale and Swaledale. We had a most enjoyable holiday and after a walk it was easy to find a good pub lunch. We wou;d certain;y recommend the Langdon Beck Hotel for good pub food and the Rose and Crown Hotel is also excellent. Depite the Covid-19 restrictions we had a very relaxing holiday and would thoroughly recommend Romaldkirk as a base for exploring Teesdale.

  • "Beautiful cottage, and Anita the owner left us wine and chocolates as a welcome."

Lovely spot, with a working wood burner for the colder evenings. The bedroom was beautifully spacious and the bed so comfy you didn’t want to get out. The added bonus of a walk in wardrobe was very handy to hide away all the luggage. We will definitely come back to this cottage again.

We were made very welcome by the owner and she explained all the attractions in the area which were also well laid out in the dossier which was in the cottage. It was a really great surprise as we had booked the cottage on spec only a few days before we arrived, so all in all it was one of the highlights of our visit to the UK and I would have no hesitation to recommend it to anyone

  • "Perfect! We loved our stay at Holly Garth and in Romaldkirk and the surrounding area."

The cottage is immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. It has everything you need for a relaxing holiday with a well equipped kitchen and plenty of books and games. It’s so quiet! The hosts were very welcoming and prior to our arrival we received an email with lots of useful information about the area which was so useful. So much to do nearby come rain or shine. The Rose and Crown, a minutes walk away, served some of the best food we’ve ever had. Would recommend visiting nearby Durham with its spectacular cathedral and Raby Castle near Staindrop. Plenty of stunning walking routes too. Cannot recommend this cottage enough- fabulous!
