“Fantastic week away”
We have just came back from having a week stay in Black Barn. It was beautiful and peaceful just what we wanted. The barn was clean and very well equipped had everything we needed. The log burner fire was lovely on a night and the barn was so warm with the under floor heating making this the warmest cottage we have stayed at! The garden was a lovely size and enclosed so our dog didn't get out. There was enough parking for four cars if needed. My children loved seeing the horses in the field and ...
My children loved seeing the horses in the field and we loved watching them grazing from the lounge window. We walked to Barnard Castle which took us 45 minutes (slow walking) in a car will take less than 5 minutes. We went to Bowness, Keswick and loved shopping in Barnard Castle. We will definitely be booking up again next year.

About the location
Barnard Castle 2 miles.
The small village of Boldron is situated in the heart of beautiful Teesdale. Boldron consists of a cluster of stone houses and a few farm dwellings. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep, with the Pennine and Teesdale Ways, the River Tees and magnificent waterfall at High Force all close by. The nearby market town of Barnard Castle stands on the site of an ancient Roman fort, which crosses the river. The medieval ruins of the castle still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. Known affectionately as 'Barney' by residents and visitors alike, the town boasts cobble streets, yards and back lanes which were first laid out in the 12th century. Other local attractions include the magnificent Raby Castle in nearby Staindrop, the Bowes Museum, Beamish Open Air Museum, Yorkshire National Railway Museum, Alnwick Gardens and of course Hadrian's Wall, the great Roman frontier across the north of England.
