The property

A peaceful stone-built hideaway tucked into the village of Brompton-on-Swale, wrapped in calming views of the countryside and sitting close to the delights of Richmond.

A perfect escape for couples, this retreat has been thoughtfully designed with an abundance of charming features to elevate your holiday experience.

The open-plan sitting area is overlooked by wonderful beams, and divides off to a kitchen and dining area, tied together with a contemporary cream overtone.

From morning through to evening, this will become your own spacious paradise for some home baking, and with the addition of a breakfast table, you are promised a relaxing start to the day.

The sitting room lies opposite, a wonderful base to simply unwind after an adventure-filled afternoon, next to natural views that rest just outside of the window.

You may even catch a picturesque sunset as the night closes in.

An all-white bathroom continues the sense of charm with a beamed ceiling, completing the ground floor in a modernised fashion.

With more to see, take the open tread staircase to the mezzanine area which is really something special, home to a collection of velux windows, oak furnishings and a twist of tradition.

If you can steer yourself away from the cottage, the grounds are certainly worth a moment or two of your time, a real tranquil setting.

There are pleasant walks to be enjoyed around the village and along the riverside.

Richmond provides the Castle Walk, a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls, or alternatively take a stroll alongside the River Swale, for beautiful waterfalls.

Brompton-on-Swale is located between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Yorkshire Moors National Park, proving this to be a well-appointed retreat in a scenic part of North Yorkshire.

About the location

BROMPTON-ON-SWALE

Richmond 3 miles; Leyburn 12 miles; Reeth 14 miles; Barnard Castle 18 miles.

The village of Brompton-on-Swale is situated to the east of Richmond on the northern banks of the River Swale. Named in the Domesday Book the village name is believed to have been derived from “broom” (the Shrub) and “tun” an old English word meaning farmstead or village. Today the village is home to a traditional pub and village shop. There are pleasant walks to be enjoyed around the village and along the riverside. The nearby ancient market town of Richmond is three miles away with its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' which enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071. Today Richmond offers wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Brompton-on-Swale is located between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Yorkshire Moors National Park providing an ideal location for exploring this scenic area.
