The property

Resting in the "Capital of Weardale", the bustling market town of Stanhope, 1 Meadow View is a lovely end-terrace cottage offering four guests a perfect walking base.

Offering attractive interiors with welcome touches like a woodburning stove and enclosed rear patio, 1 Meadow View is ideal for a couple or small family.

Head inside this charming property and enter the living/dining room, a homely space to relax and enjoy the Smart TV, with a woodburning stove to keep you warm on a cool evening, and a dining table for tucking into home-cooked meals.

Head through to the fitted kitchen to find an array of appliances, with a utility room housing the fridge and washer/dryer, with room enough to store bikes too!

From here, access the enclosed patio garden, complete with hot and cold taps to wash off any muddy pups, and furniture for enjoying the sun and alfresco dining.

Travel upstairs to find two delightful bedrooms, including a twin and a king-size with a Smart TV, served by the contemporary bathroom hosting a bath with an overhead shower.

From the cottage's position on Stanhope's main street you can stroll to the local shops, pubs and cafés, with independent shops to browse too.

Stanhope plays host to the Stone Valley Festival North at the end of June and Northern Kin Festival in September, both fantastic events to enjoy from the comfort of a cottage for those who'd rather not camp!

The peaceful waters of the River Wear offer a picturesque setting to explore right on your doorstep, with the ford being a popular location for walkers to cross the river using the giant stepping stones.

Make sure to visit the famous fossil tree, said to be 320 million years old, and near to the 12th century church of St Thomas.

Walkers can delight in plenty of beaqutiful countryside to explore in the Durham Dales and in the North Pennines AONB, with some popular local walks including oine over to Eastgate and another to White Kirkley.

Cyclists can look forward to the challenging climbs out of Stanhope before venturing onto the quiet country lanes of the North Pennines and Durham, enjoying epic scenery as you go, with the C2C cycling routes nearby too.

Head to Hamsterley Forest for some exciting off-road mountain biking trails, or choose to explore on foot, with a café here to finish your trip with a sweet treat.

Visit the city of Durham for the day to see Durham Cathedral and Durham Museum and Heritage Centre, along with taking strolls along the River Wear which winds its way around the city, stopping to sample some of the excellent restaurants and cafés here too.

The Tees Valley is home to more incredible scenery, with the High Force Waterfalls being a stunning natural beauty spot.

The ancient market town of Stanhope lies in the beautiful Wear Valley in the heart of superb walking country. Described as the "Capital of Weardale", it occupies a sheltered position on the north side of the Wear at the confluence of the river and the Stanhope burn. The town is home to a delightful high street, offering a wonderful selection of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks, plus the town is on the C2C cycle route. Beautiful Blanchland, the "perfect village", lies just 10 miles away. The city of Durham is just 22 miles away and is a World Heritage Site boasting a magnificent cathedral and castle, plus Hadrian's Wall is within easy touring distance. Close by are Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Barnard Castle - a short picturesque drive away. Further afield is the award winning Beamish Living Museum, along with the Metro Centre housing 300 shops and a 12-screen cinema, plus the Lake District National Park is 43 miles away.
