The property

Located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the village of Carperby, is this traditional semi- detached stone cottage, complete with sloping ceilings and with views out to Penhill, it is a picture perfect property.

Ideally suited for a small family or couples walking break, this cottage is decorated throughout in classic country style with floral wallpaper and wooden furniture, it has an immediate homely feel.

Featuring an electric fire, the sitting room is the best place to get warmed up on those chilly winter evenings, so you can snuggle up on the plush red sofas and talk over the day's events, or maybe watch a film on the TV before going to bed.

Venturing into the open-plan kitchen and dining room, you can make use of the modern appliances like the stylish electric oven and induction hob, amidst the quaint cream painted kitchen units, with a lovely solid wood dining table and chairs in the corner.

Moving upstairs, there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both charmingly decorated with bright airy colours and floral wallpaper for the ultimate cottage feel, along with a stunning vintage bathroom suite in excellent condition with attractive pink and blue tiling.

To the outside there is a small garden and patio area with some pretty seating, for those summer evenings when its warm enough to sit out with a glass of wine, or maybe a local ale you've picked up along the way.

The village itself is at the heart of the walker's paradise of Upper Wenslydale, and offers a pub serving food, a village green and a children's playground so you don't need to go far for the essentials.

If it's your first time visiting the Yorkshire Dales why not join one of the many guided walks going on all over the area, to ensure you see the best sights there are to see, or drive just under 30-minutes to Richmond Brewing Company to taste the ales from the dales with a guided tour of the brewery which was Richmond's former railway station.

With the Dales on your doorstep, Barnbrook is an ideal spot for a Yorkshire break at any time of year.

About the location

Aysgarth 1 mile; Castle Bolton 2 miles; Leyburn 6 miles.

This idyllic Wensleydale village is situated in a walker’s paradise, close to Castle Bolton, Bolton Hall, Leyburn and the famous Aysgarth Falls. During the 17th century, Carperby was an important centre for Quakerism and the largest building today is the classically styled Friends Meeting House which overlooks the market cross and village green. The popular village pub serves good food and an excellent range of real ales and is the main focal point of village life. Nearby, Redmire is on the Wensleydale Railway, which features steam locomotives during the summer and has regular special events. This is an ideal location for walking and touring the many attractions of Wensleydale and Swaledale - within a fifteen minute drive are historic Richmond and Middleham, as well as the attractive market towns of Bedale and Leyburn. There are numerous restaurants and award-winning pubs too, and nearby attractions include Fountains Abbey, Wensleydale Creamery and Rope Factory and Lightwater Valley. The nearest town, Leyburn, is dominated by its large market square, which still boasts a lively Friday market. The town has much to offer with its many craft shops, galleries and tea rooms. Also within easy reach are many other attractions, notably the Constable Burton Hall and Gardens with extensive parkland and woodland walks, the Forbidden Corner with its underground passages to explore, and of course the lovely Georgian town of Richmond with its fine castle ruins. Visit Bolton Castle, with its mighty towers and rectangular courtyard, one of the finest preserved medieval castles in Yorkshire. Dating back to 1378, much of the castle survived the orders to destroy famous Yorkshire castles, issued by Parliament in The Civil War. It is also located perfectly for cycling; the famous opening stages of the 2014 Tour de France passed just over a mile away. For the adventurous, mountain biking routes run from the door, over Preston moor and into wild Swaledale.
