  • "We had a fabulous 2 night stay at Low Shipley Cottage."

The cottage was beautiful, spotlessly clean and very well equipped, in an excellent location. The welcome gift was really appreciated. The hot tub was great with stunning views - we had a little trouble getting it to heat up on the first night but the owner sorted it out for us and it was a perfect way to spend my birthday, relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine after a day out at High Force waterfall! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The views were stunning and the hot tub was the cherry on the cake. Took a little while to heat up, but worth the wait. Everything was beautifully kept, even had tea and coffee for our first cuppa before we got our own. The fresh flowers, prosecco and chocolates were so generous and made our stay that little bit more special. If we come back to the area again we would definitely stay again.

  • "We had a superb holiday based out of Low Shipley Cottage."

The cottage is deceivingly spacious, the setting is stunning and hot tub after a long day out exploring is amazing. I’ve seen a comment or two re the access road and disappointed for the owners to receive this negativity. The cottage is set in a rural, farm based location and to benefit from the stunning scenery and peaceful location, you kinda expect to have to travel a little off the beaten track to get there! It’s a wonderful place to stay! Derek and his family were completely respectful at all times, nothing too much trouble and as mentioned by many, the welcome treats were really appreciated. Would strongly recommend. Paul & Nic Quinnell (and boys and Winnie the pup).

The owners were excellent hosts and any small issues we had were addressed immediately. Unfortunately I did damage my car driving down and back up the track to the cottage. You would be fine with a 4 x wheel vehicle but the massive unmade tracks of nearly a mile took its toll. This really does need addressing. Apart from that everything was superb!

  • "This property is an amazing first class find, the property is in really good condition and has everything you need for your stay."

It was kept very warm during our Christmas stay, and had such lovely and unexpected touches with a Christmas tree and welcome gift. It is in a good location for exploring both the yorkshire dales and north pennies, with lots to do even during the winter. There are a few hikes and view points walkable from the door step also. The hosts were always reachable, friendly and helpful. The drive to the property is about 1 mile from the main road and well maintained. There are a few other cottages that are part of the same complex but its well laid out so you don't feel your privacy is affected. The bridge across to Cotherstone is easy to find from the caravan park and has two pubs. All the wood and fire materials we needed were provided. We did experience issues with the wifi due to the remote location, and mobile phone signal was also very limited inside the property, so I would not recommend planning to work from the property or expect BBC Iplayer/Netflix etc to work. I would note that whilst the freezer space was ample, the fridge space was only a couple of shelfs, which would be more than enough if you are picking up food every couple of days, but due to Christmas we stocked up and were struggling a little for space. We also found the log fueled hot tub very hard to get to the right temperature, we often found we made it too hot or only just warm, however, we were in external temperatures of 1 degrees so it is unlikely to be an issue in the warmer months. Worth considering it may take up to 4hrs to warm in cold temperatures. The only possible improvement we noted is there weren't any arrival/depature instructions, and felt a little more about how to do things in the property and nearby recommendations could have been provided in the welcome letter. More towels could also have been made available at the property as think they would be needed if more than two of you.

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable with all the facilities that we could have needed. Set in a peaceful location, perfect for a relaxing break or in our case a family wanting to explore the local area. The views over the valley from the hot tub were beautiful. If you head down towards the caravan park there is a nice walking route into Cotherstone where the Fox and Hound pub is. The cottage has been finished to a high standard and the bedding and towels etc were of similar quality to those you would find in a luxury hotel. The Wi-Fi works well and my son was able to watch YouTube videos without any problems. The welcome gift of Prosecco and chocolates was a nice touch. Very clean and all facilities working. Nice touch of welcome treats on arrival. Friendly and helpful owners. The hot tub and views were amazing. Managed to negotiate the track down to the cottage in a Fiesta driving very slowly, though the track really does need some of the larger holes filling in. Only slight disappointment on arrival was to find the cottage is joined onto additional holiday accomodation and both bedroom windows looked directly into and were within the adjoining holiday makers' gardens. The description on Sykes makes it sound like it is just Low Shipley Cottage and the owners' house on the site. Everyone was very friendly and considerate though so this did not distract from a great holiday in a lovely setting.

Vehicle with high ground clearance recommended if you have no patience. No real complaints but a couple of enhancements to suggest; The WiFi could be much improved with modern repeater technology and a more modern TV that would allow a movie application to cast to its screen.

  • "We have just had a fabulous weekend, the cottage was immaculate, it had all the home comforts you would need."

Derek greeted us with a warm welcome, he told us about the great walks and eateries in the area which were just perfect. There have been a few comments about the track to the cottage, we took our time driving down and really didnt find it a problem at all. It was so nice to be off the beaten track. This is also an awesome location for stargazing with no light polution for miles. We will certainly visit again, very soon.
