  • "This property and location is amazing."

We had a fantastic time, the jacuzzi and facilities are great. I personally didn't sleep that well as the bed in the main bedroom was extremely soft (I do know that this is a personal preference though). Overall a great place to go to for a relaxing few days or weeks. Thanks for a great stay x

  • "The bed in the master bedroom was a little hard but we can l live with that, also in the master bedroom there was only one window that you could open with meant that not much air would circulate which resulted in the hot days it being to hot and we that to keep the door open with was an inconvenience to the other quests, and then in the windy days when you closed the door it would rattle keeping us awake, so we put a suitcase against the door to stop the rattling with resulted in the attic doors keep opening."

I would suggest maybe putting a window where the Juliet doors are or putting a rail were the Juliet doors are so enabling them to be opened. however we had an amazing time, the scenery was amazing and we loved the jacuzzi.

  • "Had a lovely stay."

Fabulous location with stunning countryside views and a great hot tub. Negative points include, steep access to walking routes, not suitable for those with limited mobility or babies/ toddlers with pushchair or pram. We weren't happy that there wasn't a wasbasin in the downstairs loo, or a working light. Back double bedroom had a little black mould in the shower and an area on the wall near to the ceiling. Both ensuite showers were good, but the shower in the family bathroom was poor, with very limited pressure, only a dribble. Well equipped kitchen. Would have appreciated a slow cooker as It's nice to prepare a meal to come back to after a day out walking. The welcome cheese and biscuits and fizz was very much appreciated. We had a nice stay celebrating a special anniversary, however not sure we'd rebook this particular property for the points mentioned but would definitely visit the area again

  • "A very mixed review for our stay last weekend."

The house itself is lovely and was comfortable and clean. A few damp patches in the second double room that needed tending too but we appreciated the age of the building. Unfortunately we all came back from the weekend unwell, my son has such a bad rash I've had to take him to the doctor's who confirmed Pseudomonas Folliculitis and that it came from the poorly sanitised hot tub he said the bacteria comes from poor sanitation and upkeep of the water. We complained to the owners whilst we were there about the smell coming from the tub and that the water was extremely dirty after only one use. The owner suggested that it was my makeup that had caused the filter to clog up and that he hadn't seen anything like it before as the filter was completely blocked and refilled the tub but it was too late. My son had already started to get spots, there is no way we could have made the water that unsanitary in one use that it caused such an infection. I also had no makeup on while using the tub. My son is so unwell as a result that he's had to be treated with two different types of antibiotics and steroid cream as it's really painful and inflamed and he's had a raging temperature all week - the rest of us are seeing how we get on but all have spots where our swimwear was all apart from my mother who didn't go in. This is definitely a health and safety matter and very concerning. He could potentially have scars all over his torso now as the infection is so bad! We complained to Sykes days ago and have had no response so leaving our review here so that others are aware of the dangers of unclean hot tubs.

While this is very unfortunate and not a nice situation for the guests, I have never seen the hot tub water so dirty after one day. The water was crystal clear on the guests arrival. We empty and clean the hot tub, wash or replace the filter and refill EVERY change over. The Mill has been running for five years and this has never happened before. Marking cleanliness at 50 is very unfair, the Mill is extremely clean, you just need to look at previous reviews. The comments left on departure-“ We had a lovely weekend with family. Beautiful house, lovely hot tub and amazing views. Gorgeous welcome pack, thank you for looking after us. We will definitely be back again”I don’t normally respond to feedback, but I feel I needed to in this situation. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely time but there were just a few things that I would have expected due to the cost of the holiday."

There was no dryer, which, had it been raining and we all got wet after walking would have been a problem as we didn't have many clothes due to the short stay. We brought films to watch but there was no DVD player so we connected to the app as directed, which we had to sign up to with a subscription attached and it couldn't connect our phone to the TV. This was very annoying and took us out of the holiday, relaxed mood. We then had problems cancelling the subscription. Other than that it was a lovely clean place to stay, with nice views and a lovely big hot tub.

Nice welcome package and kitchen had any utensil I could possibly need. Could do with a larger sign/sign closer to the gate for this particular lodge, and maybe fill a couple of pot holes, but I will definitely be returning.

The cottage was clean and spacious. We enjoyed using the hot tub! Only minor suggestions would be to provide some more tea towels for the kitchen and some scrubbers/washing up equipment.

  • "Really delighted with the stay, which was for a surprise birthday getaway."

Not quite as secluded as we thought from the listing, however, absolutely stunning location and a beautiful property. Thank you for the lovely welcome hamper too; a nice surprise for those who arrived first ;-) It would be worth highlighting prominently on the listing also about vehicular access and the state of the road; fortunately our cars all managed, but I had contemplated bringing my sports car for the weekend which would never have made it down the track without considerable damage. Nonetheless, wouldn’t hesitate to book again!

I have never commented on here before, but I feel it necessary to do so. I am very pleased that this party enjoyed their stay. But the comments about the road in are very exaggerated, yes the road is unmade in places which is pointed out in the details on the website. But to say that there would be considerable damage caused if a sports car was brought down is a bit far fetched. All cars come down the road quite happily, if you have a lower car, if you drive a bit slower and sensibly there would be no problem. Property Owner
