  • "Booking was easy, staff were really helpful, courteous, and friendly."

We had a lovely welcome to the property, the bungalow was perfect. We loved that it has a meadow right outside the gate, which meant our ten month old Sprocker Spaniel had a place to run. She loved bouncing through the field. The area for walks and towns is stunning, it was the space and air we needed as a family. I would highly recommend this property and we really hope to return again. Thank you for a lovely stay and accommodating us last minute too, we are very appreciative.

  • "Unsure as to why this property has received mainly 5 star reviews in the past as it does not warrant this at all in our opinion."

The property was very tired decor wise, the carpets were grubby and were thin and basic, skirting boards and window sills had many paint chips, there was mould on the window frames of the main bedroom (one window in here did not close properly). Floor covering in the dining room was lifting a lot, appeared not to have been fitted properly. The bench in the garden was soiled with bird droppings and had not been cleaned. The description states 'off road parking' but our holiday was interrupted by a neighbour demanding we move our car from the designated area we had been told to park as he had right of access and needed to use it. We were left half a toilet roll in the bathroom with no spare ones. Overall fairly clean and the sofas in the living room comfortable.

am so sorry you felt you needed to leave .. but when my cleaner went in .. and the state of the toilet we now know why . we did try to help and contact you regarding the parking .. but would not for some reason answer my calls . i am left puzzled if this property was not up to standard why you stayed so long then got home to complain .. Also, I can assure you the bench was cleaned, unfortunately, we cannot control the wildlife. Property Owner

  • "Comfortable bungalow in a delightful setting."

Plenty of pots and pans and adequate crockery to self cater. Lovely views from the rear of the property and a very useful field in which to exercise dogs. Beds were very comfortable and the house was welcoming, warm and cosy. The owners show every consideration for guests with a generous welcome hamper. The village has two very good pubs and it is a short and easy drive into Barnard Castle for shopping and a good range of independent shops and eateries.

  • "This cottage is a gem, a lovely home from home thanks to the effort of the owner."

The welcome hamper was the best we’ve had in years. The cottage is ideally placed for visiting the many attractions in the area and surrounded by so many interesting and sometimes challenging walks. We took our rough collie Spice who was quite safe as the cottage has enclosed front and rear gardens and the bonus of a gate into the field at the back owned by the owner, who said it was fine for us to exercise Spice there. The Fox and Hounds in the village does great food and even takeaway fish and chips.

thank you for your positive feed back , hope to see you again Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable and clean bungalow."

A great welcome pack awaited us and doggy treats too, which was very much appreciated by all. The rear garden has amazing views over the field beyond, it was just nice to return from a walk, sit in the garden with a G&T, unwind and take in the view. We saw deer & pheasant. The garden is fully enclosed and ideal for the dog, it has astro turf so no muddy paws to worry about. We parked the car and never used it again all week as there are so many great walks from the doorstep. We used the regular bus service to go into Bernard Castle which stops a few feet from the bungalow. A great week was had by all! Thank you! We will definitely be returning soon.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Rose Ville in Cotherstone."

On arrival we received a lovely welcome hamper for us and our dog. The house was lovely and clean and the view from the back doors/garden was so beautiful, we spent a lot of time admiring it. Our dog loved the use of the field at the back for some evening exercise. We spotted deer, rabbits, swift’s and a barn owl from the garden. There are lots of walks on the public footpaths in the surrounding area and further afield. We did low force/high force waterfalls from Bowlees visitor centre. 10.5miles to Barnard Castle and back along the river. We also did some smaller walks along the Tees Railway Path. There was so much more to explore we would definitely return. Jayne the host was lovely, answering any questions I had.

A true gem of a find in a lovely location which we would hopefully return to for another visit. Thank you Jayne and David for your very high standards. LInda, Fred and Dexter the cocker pop.

Very clean and a lovely hamper left by the owners. The field at the back is owned by the cottage owners and ideal for dog owners. We were lucky with the weather and sat in the garden most evenings listening to a Tawny owl. We also caught sight of a Barn Owl. We saw deer too. Despite being sited on the road through Cotherstone, there was little traffic at night. A very peaceful, quiet stay was just what the Dr ordered...literally!

The cottage is all on one level ideal for little ones. Jayne even left out some toys which our little girl loved. It’s very cosy and a home from home, well stocked with everything you need for a self catering holiday. Very clean and tidy with plenty of fresh clean towels. The views out of the back of the cottage are of rolling fields with a gate for access to the fields for walking/dog walking. Great little welcome packages too including bread, butter, milk, juice, wine & the very delicious local Cotherstone cheese. Even our dog & 2 year old received little welcome packs, a nice touch. Highchair & travel cot are available on request. The village itself has 2 nice pubs, The Fox & Hounds does nice food & The Red Lion is good for a pint or two. Larger than listing photos would suggest. Direct access to open fields and the extensive network of local walks direct from the back gate was a great bonus. A rushed booking, as I suddenly had a 4 week gap between house moves. High season and with limited choice this seemed a good option, but couldn't have chosen better if there had been unlimited availability. Highly recommended and intend to return.
