Located a couple of miles north of the River Wear, Crook lies approximately 9 miles south-west of the historic city of Durham, and 5 miles north-west of Bishop Auckland. The centre of Crook, a designated conservation area, features a selection of shops and businesses with a market held on Tuesdays. On top of the hills to the east sits Crook Golf Club, its challenging 18 hole course boasting wonderful views over the local countryside. Crook also features a range of pubs, cafes and restaurants to explore at your own leisure, as well as a backdrop of traditional and modern buildings. Annual events including Crook Carnival, Crook Community Christmas Event and the Crookfest music festival. Further afield, Bishop Auckland showcases many notable landmarks, including a town hall, and castle, worthy of a visit.
