The hot tub was lovely and relaxing, there was also lots of space for our grandchildren to explorer. The hosts, Debbie and Nick were great. The location is also well situated for places to visit in Weardale / Durham. We will definitely be back .

Debbie & Nigel went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, especially with the lovely flowers & freshly baked muffins on our arrival. We couldn’t fault one thing. The hot tub was ready for our arrival and despite the miserable weather, it didn’t spoil our weekend. Would 100% recommend. Thank you so much!

We all enjoyed a soak in the hot tub each afternoon when we returned from our adventures to nearby attractions. The cottage was really spacious, clean and well stocked with lovely flowers and cakes to greet us on our arrival. Debbie and Nigel were great friendly hosts available when needed and ensured we had all we needed and made sure the hot tub was checked each day so it was always clean and well maintained. The children are already asking when we can return, would highly recommend thanks for a great holiday.

  • "We have had a wonderful 2 week stay at The Barn with our inlaws staying in adjoining Coach House."

The House is great, beautifully decorated with everything you need and some lovely little extras like nice soaps etc. Debbie and Nigel are so lovely, showed us round and explained how everything worked, they have been on hand for anything we might need. The paddock at the back is great for the dog, she loved chasing her ball (and rabbits & pheasants!) the view from the top is really lovely. The hot tub is great for relaxing after a long day exploring the area. We enjoyed a few long dog walks along part of the Weardale Way which can access from the village. Enjoyed a drink and pizza in the local pub. Chip shop in Frosterly and Stanhope are good and the Indian in Stanhope is great too. Woolsingham just a few mins drive has a lovely Italian that we went to one evening, also has a local park with ice cream van which kids enjoyed. There are two lovely bakerys one in Stanhope and one in Woolsingham for some nice lunch treats and also lovely fruit/veg/florist in Stanhope. We went swimming at Woolsingham pool and also larger pool with flume and waves in Spennymoor. Enjoyed a day out to Hall Hill Farm Park and Homeside Park. The in laws enjoyed Bowes museum and Barnard Castle. We have had a great 2 weeks here and would highly recommend to anyone.

It’s a beautiful property in a beautiful part of the country. Nigel & Debbie were there to greet us with freshly baked scones when we arrived & stepping in to the Barn we were delighted with our choice of accommodation….they’ve thought of everything & Barn is finished to a very high standard. Our dog especially enjoyed exploring the paddock which was fully fenced and safe. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden & hot tub in the evenings to the sounds of the local wildlife. Explored the local area during our stay & North Pennines/Durham/Northumberland truly is a hidden gem….plenty of dog walks on doorstep but we enjoyed venturing a bit further afield. 7days of 20++ deg sunshine was the icing on the cake!

Very homely and great for a couples holiday (with baby in tow for us!) the hot tub was a fantastic edition and we had great stargazing opportunities from the tub! The only slight negative is that if you are staying in the downstairs bedrooms, you can hear what is going on upstairs as if you are in the same room. The first floor seems like it may be a mezzanine and so the soundproofing isn’t great. The master suite was well sound proofed though and our friends had no trouble there.

Ideal location and walking distance to a shop, we really liked No10 cafe and the bakery along the road and had some lovely walks around Hamsterley forest, which is a short drive away. The outside space is wonderful, we would take our morning coffee up to the seats in the paddock every morning and look at those lovely views and enjoyed the hot tub on a night time. The Barn itself has been exceptionally renovated and was so clean and comfortable. The kitchen was lovely to cook in and chill out with the family with it being open plan and all the small little touches like toiletries, hotel slippers, cakes on arrival etc made all the difference. Nigel and Debbie were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. The Barn is immaculate and finished to a very high standard with a well equipped kitchen and everything you could need for a weeks stay. In the past few years we have holidayed in the UK a fair bit and this was by far the most comfortable and luxurious place we've stayed. We really enjoyed the outdoor space and using the hot tub (the stars are amazing), we also appreciated the fact the water is changed between guests. There's loads to do within half an hour to a hour radius- our favourites were Beamish, Raby Castle, High Force/Low Force and Cragside (a bit further but worth it). Also worth a mention that the scenery and roads are just amazing and we were more than a little sad not to be on our motorbike! We would not hesitate to recommend staying here and we would love to come up for a return visit

Debbie and Nigel have done such an amazing job on The Barn; it is absolutely gorgeous and the views from the garden were stunning. The Barn had everything you could ask for in a holiday home; the kitchen was better equipped than any I’ve seen so far, the bedrooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable… we all slept like logs! Admittedly, however, we spent most of our time outside in the hot tub, which was positioned perfectly to take in the view. It was easy to use, no faff and Nigel had started it up ready for when we got there

  • "Thank you so much Debs and Nigel for a wonderful stay!"

The property is exactly as pictured online, we arrived to everything clean and perfect, with a lovely welcome pack. It’s peaceful, warm and very quiet, with countryside / garden views out of most windows. We were a family of 6 adults staying and it was comfortable to relax in. We moved armchairs out of the bedrooms into the living room for extra seating. The fireplace is perfect and very cosy. The house is really well stocked, with pretty much all equipment you could need for home cooking, which we did most days. The facilities (dishwasher/ washing machine etc) are all good quality too. Debs and Nigel are also extremely responsive and helpful hosts. The gardens are really lovely, hot tub is amazing and the field behind was perfect for our dog to run about in. The view from the top of the hill is great. There is some building work being done on the top field behind behind which was noisy with beeping on one of the days of our visit but was quiet the rest of the time. The house is great for access to local walks straight from the door. One we wouldn’t recommend is the Weardale way to Stanhope - even though the views were stunning, some parts of the walk weren’t signposted and had been cut off by a farm fence. Plenty of other amazing walking options though, and good walking guide books at the house! The views are really wonderful in the area, and lots of interesting stuff to see: rivers, Hadrians wall, Pennines etc. There is also a local railway being opened between the Weardale villages which will help with walks! We hope to come back one day to try it out!

The property was well organised and had everything we could ask for. Every utensil had been considered and we really couldn't ask for much more, there was a lot of things I had brought which came home, they were not needed in the end as they were already supplied in the cottage. We had lovely days exploring, and found our hosts to be extremely helpful with suggestions. We would 100% recommend and have already been looking to rebook.

We have three children and wanted a break to keep us all occupied finishing the day with relaxing evenings in the hot tub. The property was situated perfectly with lots of scenic walks and amenities in walking distance but a short drive away many more beautiful days out. We visited High Force, the Diary Barn, Hamsterley Forest, disused quarry walks and our favourite just across from the property was the Mineral Valley Walk. There is a lovely play park and playing field opposite the barn and the garden is huge meaning the children can run some energy off safely. We ate out at the Derwent Manor Hotel, Bonny Moor Hen and Derwent Arms which all served lovely food. We had a takeaway from Freddie's in Stanhope and Laus in Wolsingham which were delicious. A trip to the butcher's joined to the Spa in Wolsingham is a must, we had some lovely meals made from their produce. The hosts were most attentive and friendly and nothing was a bother, couldn't have asked for a better break. Will definitely be back soon as we miss the amazing fire too!
