    “AMAZING PLACE”

I booked this barn for a treat for my mum and myself as she was having a very difficult time with everything this year! We found the barn so so relaxing and welcoming, beautiful wildlife all around you, we saw a buzzard which was an amazing site to see so close, plus owls, pheasants, rabbits galore, house martins nesting right outside your window, and much much more! Most importantly we did not see a single sole whilst at the cottage, apart from Jackie the owner who is such a lovely lady and helped us with a lot about the area. The cottage itself was so relaxing, clean and very welcoming, we took out 2 dogs and they loved it too! We went sea glass hunting at Seaham which took about an hrs drive to get to, but well worth it! We found quite a lot of stunning colours. We also had a trip around egggleston which is very picturesque and has a abbey ruins, the river tee has stunning views and walks, we saw churches and castles and for a 3 trip I think we managed to fit a lot in :) a bonus we were very lucky with the weather! the barn itself was well equipped with plenty of clean towels and bedding available. We really couldn’t of asked for a nice break away. Thank you so much we will hopefully be back next year. Joe and Elaine ( and of course the doggies Skye and bleu )

BOWES

Barnard Castle 4 miles.

The pretty village of Bowes is situated amid the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale, in County Durham. The village boasts a traditional old pub and has a long history dating back to the Romans. Its most famous landmark is Bowes Castle, built on the site of the original Roman fort soon after the Norman Conquest. Bowes also has a significant connection with Charles Dickens and Dotheboys Hall in the heart of the village is believed to have been the inspiration for Nicholas Nickleby. Nearby is the market town of Barnard Castle, whose medieval ruins still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. The town itself boasts cobbled streets, yards and back lanes that were originally laid in the 12th Century.
