  • "Just back from a week long stay with two friends in this delightful cottage, in a quiet village which is ideally situated for exploring the joys of Richmond, Leyburn, Bolton Castle, Redmire, Aysgarth, Hawes, etc, as well as the immediate area of Grinton and Reeth."

We had some beautiful walks - despite the rain. The cottage itself has everything you need, in addition to being very tastefully decorated with some lovely touches created by local craftsman, Terry Harrington, including the welcome tray! The only disappointment was the local pub, The Bridge. Don't think that it will last much longer as opening hours and the availability of food was unpredictable, but Reeth is within walking distance ;-).

It was lovely to see you at the cottage Sharon and pleased you had a lovely stay. We have tried to make this cottage as homely as we can with the finishing touches and appreciate your comments. In regards to the pub, it is having new owners in the next few weeks so hopefully this will be more consistent. Property Owner

Lots of great walks nearby with good pubs and excellent cake at the Dales Bike Centre. Visit coincided with the Reeth Show which could be walked to, would recommend. Cottage was lovely, everything that is needed. Great views and although on the main road was very quiet. Would highly recommend

Accomodation was excellent and the property has clearly been appointed and maintained to a high standard. Bedrooms and beds were very comfortable with a very good kitchen and bathrooms. Good location, close to a great little pub which serves food. Nice touches like local bread available on arrival. A very good stay and will certainly return

  • "Lovely cottage with great VIEWS, just a few things would have made it a 5 star, shower could do with some where to put stuff while showering, no instructions for heating TV instructions where for wrong TV, no visitors book to leave coments bed not very comfy and patio very slippery when wet could do with a good pressure wash."

But having said all that we had a lovely week and would stay again but we are now getting a dog and cottage does not accept dogs which is a shame

  • "The property is beautiful, spotlessly clean and everything very good quality, Beautiful view over the meadow and a few minutes walk to the Swale Trail footpath/cycle route all the way to Gunnerside."

Easy walk into Reeth and not far to drive to other places of interest for a day out. Only slight downside for us was shuffling on and off the drive/parking spot as our car quite big/long (VW Arteon). It wouldn’t put us off booking another holiday as everything else was perfect.

  • "We couldn’t be happier, White Lea was a stunningly beautiful, clean and comfortable property."

It definitely deserves its “outstanding” rating. White Lea was perfectly situated although our sat nav had difficulty locating it. The location was so peaceful and picturesque. The cosy fireplace and gorgeously comfortable sofa were very welcome after a days walking or sightseeing. The whole property was decorated to a very high standard and was a delight to stay in. We would highly recommend it.

We had lambs in our field every morning and the farmer came to visit them twice a day. The children throughly enjoyed this experience. Perfect property and facilities were great. One suggestion may be to have a rug down on the lounge floor and also blankets to snuggle with once the fire is on. Apart from the we couldn’t fault the place. Also the ice cream shop in Reeth is definitely worth a visit or two.

Lovely village and easy walk into next bigger village. The only downside was the parking if you had more than one car. There is very little other parking in the village and the landlord at the pub isn’t helpful, ever when you go to his pub most evenings and have a couple of meals there.

About the location

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
