  • "Warm welcome, excellent quality cottage, grand location!"

  • "Rose Cottage is a charming property with a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, beautiful bathroom with separate bath and shower, and comfortable sitting room."

There is also a lovely garden at the rear of the property. Vanessa, our host, was so lovely and helpful and was there for any queries that we might have during our stay. The only quibble would be that the bed was a bit uncomfortable (could do with a mattress topper), but it is very quiet and we did sleep well during our stay. We would have no problem recommending this property.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Rose Cottage. We appreciate all the positive comments you have made and will strive to improve the slightly less positive issues you have made us aware of. Property Owner

  • "Really lovely, warm and cosy cottage."

Perfect size for our family with 2 young children, great size kitchen and bathroom and great to have enclosed garden too. Had everything we needed and great location near barnard castle and plenty of lovely scenery. Really appreciated the welcome pack - the children squealed with delight when they saw the haribos included! Dishwasher and washing machine also very useful. We would recommend and would be back although having since acquired a puppy it’s a shame the cottage doesn’t accept dogs. Thanks for a lovely home from home.

Thank you for your generous review. We are pleased to hear that you had a pleasant stay and liked the area too. It is a beautiful part of the country. Having a new puppy will be great for you all to enjoy plenty of walks in the countryside! Property Owner

Everything you need in a holiday cottage plus more. Great welcome from Vanessa. The cottage was toasty warm on arrival. Very generous welcome pack and fresh milk in the fridge. We loved the peace and quiet. Great location. We will certainly be booking again. Thank you

However, we think there might be a problem with the central heating which made terrible banging noises which only stopped if we ran the hot water tap but then started up again. I think it should be mentioned to the owners.

Location ideal for exploring the surrounding area as far as the lakes and the dales. The cottage was excellent and to the standard to which we have become accustomed when booking with Sykes. Rose Cottage was a new property for Sykes and we hope that this becomes a regular feature in the excellent range and choice of properties available.
