  • "We had a really lovely holiday in this cottage."

Easy walk into Richmond centre 5 minutes. Clean and comfortable. Very thoughtful welcome pack for us and the dogs, we all enjoyed them. The only thing is and this is not a criticism the ivy is very over grown in the garden so we couldn't use it which was a shame. It just needs cutting back. Would stay here again.

The cottage was very comfortable and in such a great location. The cottage was well stocked and had everything needed and more. The kitchen was also well equipped. The location was perfect for us - a 5 minute walk from the market square. We’d definitely love to stay here again.

My only issue is parking as this is quite hard as parking outside the property is minimal and also 10.00am check out is a little early. 11.00 would be a little better. All in all though we had a great time. Thank you

Two welcome packs, one for us and one for the dog was a lovely touch. The rooms are surprisingly large and very comfortable. Would we rent it again....definitely, loved everything about our trip.

  • "We loved staying so close to Richmond town centre."

It's the perfect market town. West View is a short, level walk from the market square, which was such a novelty for us as we live in the middle of nowhere and shopping is an expedition. We found a variety of walks right from the door, including out into the beautiful countryside. The house is decorated in a cosy, contemporary scheme. It is warm and feels more spacious than I expected. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a full sized fridge freezer. Parking is an issue in Richmond in general, but West View is well placed for the Long Stay car park if you can't park outside. We are looking forward to another visit to this charming, well placed property.

  • "Our holiday at West View in Richmond was just wonderful!"

The cottage was well equipped and was spotlessly clean with a welcome pack for us and our dog! It is very spacious and light, with comfortable furniture and beds. The location was perfect, just a short stroll away from the shops, castle, and river walks. We only used our car to visit Barnard Castle as we had everything we wanted on our doorstep. Thank you!

The house was very comfortable and spacious the back and front gardens do need some t l c but this didn’t detract from our stay. Only suggestion could do with some cooking tongues and a long handled sweeping brush for the kitchen.

  • "Absolutely beautiful house, more spacious than expected and very very clean."

The welcome pack was amazing and one of the best we have ever received. The house is in a brilliant location close to the centre but on a quiet street. We parked our car at Nuns Close Car Park which was a street away and costs £15 (coins only) for a week. The only gripe is the bed was very hard so we didn’t sleep very well and the en-suite could do with some tlc. Other than that I would visit again. It was definitely one of the best houses we have stayed in.

Both toilet seats are very loose and need attention also no hot water in the sink in the main bathroom because the tap would not turn on.the ouside spaces were unusable the back courtyard was very overgrown and dingy plus it was guarded by next doors staffie.the seating at the front of the property could not be used because of the smell from the wheelie bin.the window pull handle in the twin bedroom was broken off and lying on the window sill when we arrived

  • "Travelled as a family with 2 young children."

This cottage is much bigger than expected and all rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped for our visit. We didn't use the rear courtyard seating due to the weather. The welcome pack was greatly received especially after an eventful journey to the cottage. I had to contact Lisa as a result and communication was fantastic and she was so helpful and lovely. Richmond is a beautiful town and all the locals very welcoming and friendly. This is definitely a place we could come back to and would stay on the cottage again.

  • "We had a wondeful holiday in Richmond."

The property exceeded our expectations. We didnt really know what to expect in this new Covid world- but any fears over cleanliness were immediately alleviated. The welcome basket was a nice touch. The house was well furnished and comfortable. The pictures somehow didnt really do the place justice. There is no specific parking (ad says this) but the car park is literally 30 secs away and we also managed free off street parking the other times. It really was a home from home. Would definitely reccomend to others.

My mother-in-law found the stairs to be easy to use, despite her being in her late 80's and having mobility issues. The rooms are all a good size, everything was very clean and tidy, and the welcome pack for us and our dog were both appreciated. Richmond is a lovely place to visit and the cottage was ideal for us as we could walk into the centre within a few minutes without going up or down the extremely steep hills all around if we wanted to.

  • "The cottage felt like a home as soon as I walked in."

The Christmas tree in the bay window and a small one on the kitchen table was a thoughtful touch. The welcome goody basket was a nice surprise. The owners and other art work and mottos about give the place a loved and cared for feel. The cottage is nicely decorated, clean, warm and comfortable and after my day time walks it was nice to nestle in for the night. The cottage is so convenient in being so near to the centre of Richmond. In Richmond there are: interesting shops and shops that can provide for all your needs. For good coffee and chocolate got to Mocha on the market square. On Saturday there is a market and the cheese van sells a wonderful selection of local cheeses. For two nights I had a meal at a Sicilian Restaurant called Alessandros. The food there is excellent. I have eaten in Italy and Alesandros food surpasses some of the food I have eaten in Italy. Their "spaghetti alle vignole" is excellent Also try the Kings Arms. I had Sunday lunch there and could not eat it all. The food was very good. If you are looking for a snack to take on a walk go to "The Noted pie shop" The cafe at the railway station is good and also there is a very good bakery and delicatessen there If you do not want to use the car then there are walks you can do from Richmond. I could not get a parking spot outside the cottage so £15 for a weeks parking is a good investment. To explore all of the dales, Richmond is an ideal base because of the ease of connecting roads to the other dales. In Reeth there is a nice friendly coffee shop called "The White House" it serves really good coffee. For good walks try: Aysgarth Falls, Hardraw Force, Ingleton waterfall walk and High Force. I can strongly recommend this cottage and Richmond and certainly I will back to stay there.

The house is well presented and appointed and the perhaps one of the most advantageous points is the position, within just minutes walk of the facilities of a very attractive town centre. We used it as a base for daytime cycle rides out and on two days left on different routes from the house and were soon in attractive countryside (and hills!).

Close to the centre of town and all the amenities Richmond has to offer. 2 West View is just fantastic. Has everything you would need for a comfortable stay and the welcome pack from Lisa and Paul was a lovely touch. We enjoyed a very relaxing week and managed to park outside the property with no problems. Plenty parking nearby if none available though. • "Super cottage!"

Very comfortable, clean and well maintained. A real home from home. Well located for a wonderful holiday in Richmond. Plenty to see and do on the doorstep. We were not able to find a parking space outside the house but there is a public car park a few minutes walk away that cost £15 for the week (plus you can use the ticket in other local car parks). About the location

RICHMOND

Barnard Castle 10 miles; Leyburn 12 miles.

Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. Its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071, famously situated high above the river - indeed the name Richmond is derived from 'Riche-mont' meaning 'strong hill'. Today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The town flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries and the resulting elegant Georgian architecture lines many of the old streets. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
