New pillows required for double bed. There was a bulb out in the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay in Richmond but the cottage did not feel homely,just a 10 min walk to Richmond,short drive to most other places.

"Jasmine cottage is cosy, very clean & tucked away off the main road, you couldn't hear the traffic."
The description about the cottage is what you get. There was everything we needed for cooking wise. Instead of instructions notes lying around, it would be neater if an information booklet was to hand. To include local attractions, restaurants, take away restaurants etc. The one negative thing we found the outside space not being enclosed we couldn't let our dog out, also the patio door was the only source of ventilation in the room . But we couldn't keep the door open in case our dog escaped . It could do with a small fence to make it a bit safer for our four legged friends. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

Caught a lovely trout btw. Not a complaint but I wonder if owners of cottages that don’t have gardens could make some way of having a baby gate that we can slot in the patio door so the dog can join in patio time. Just an idea. Perfect parking facilities. I worked a day of my stay so we took a van and a car. Take a visit to Ellerton Abbey- fantastic antique shop and tea room. Lovely comfy cottage- loved the double sofa arrangement! Thanks for a brilliant holiday home. Will be back.

"Jasmine Cottage was very peaceful and quiet."
There was allocated parking not far from the cottage door to unload the car. The courtyards outside the cottages were well maintained. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well equipped with dishes etc. The housekeeping team were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The shower was very good. The cottage was very convenient for a ten minute walk into town. Not using the car is a bonus. Richmond is a lovely town with plenty of walks, places to visit and numerous cafes, and restaurants. We would certainly return to this cottage again in the future.

Lovely cottage well equipped beautifully clean comfy bed the only thing was the bannister as you go upstairs it wasn't noticeable we both banged our arm on it so put a hand towel on it so we could see it's end would definitely stay there again and recommend it to family and friends

"First impressions of this property were not good as frankly it was like stepping into a cave."
With all the lights were on it improved radically, though never as bright as in the lounge photos. (Greenery removed from behind the small kitchen windows would help.) The level of comfort throughout is very good, the bathroom is lovely and the carpets are glorious! The laundry has good machines. Positioned just about 15mins from town centre one way and a really good dog walking area about 10 mins the other way, it definitely has a lot to offer.

"Good afternoon, We made the best of our stay at the Jasmin Cottage however, we were unable to lock the door from the inside all weekend."
There were two separate occasions on our first night, where we were unable to unlock the door from the inside. This resulted in asking Gill the house keeper to let us out. On the second occasion it just so happened a neighbour across the way came over with some WD40 to see if this would make a difference on the lock. But he to confirmed it was very stiff and said it looked more of a mechanism issue which would require the full lock being removed and replaced. All weekend we were terrified to lock the door incase there was a fire and we were unable to get out. So this resulted in putting the dining room chairs across the door all weekend at night. The cottage itself was clean and all the facilities in relation to heating, water, electricity and location were fine. But personally being unable to lock the door at night did make us not want stay or recommend this facility until its fully resolved. The fact there were two cottages either side of us which were empty all weekend, we could of been moved to enable our safety but the house keeper never offered or even considered reporting this fault to be fixed which gave me an overall concern for anyone else. My Granddaughter is pregnant so naturally this facility did give her worry around our belongings being safe and even if children stayed there in the future. It is only right I make sure this feedback is given to ensure changes are made and the maintenance is carried out accordingly. Kind regards Mary McPherson

Very quiet and great location - just a 10-15 walk to the marketplace, or hopping in the car to explore further afield. Cottage was ideal for our pooch, and the parking is much closer than the advertised 70 metres, it’s more like 10-20 metres. Would recommend.

"It was in a good location ."
Easy walk into Richmond centre and close to other scenic walks as well . We just used the cottage as a base and stayed there for 3 nights . I found the double bed a bit too hard to be comfortable , it would benefit from a better mattress, but otherwise we enjoyed our stay .

"A lovely mews cottage, very comfy sofas."
Kitchen area well fitted and a nice touch to find milk, tea, coffee and sugar. Bathroom a little dated but we knew that from the pictures. Very clean. A relatively easy walk to Richmond even for myself with mobility issues. It was a good idea to have a ring in the terrace area to tie the dogs lead to when sitting in the terrace area. There was a doggie towel left for my dog, plus extra dog towels and dog treats in the laundry area. Great spot for touring the area with a Riverside walk a few minutes away. We would definitely return here.

Just a 10 minute walk into the centre. Lovely 5k walk nearby starting from Richmond castle. ‘Little drummer boy walk’ just not pram friendly. The cottage itself was very nice and cosy and just what we needed for our 2 night stay. Will definitely be back!!

Very comfortable accommodation with all you need for your stay, including a communal laundry area complete with washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board. Loved the sofas with the buttons so that you could truly put your feet up!!!

If I were being critical I would say that the main bedroom and the bathroom were a little small but they’re both useable. A nice little walk (0.6 miles) along the main road into Richmond and there are several more ambitious routes that can be taken if you want to extend your walk. There are a number of pubs in Richmond which do reasonable food and beer at reasonable prices. We tried The Town Hall, The Bishop Blaize and The Black Lion. The first two were OK, the latter was a little expensive in comparison and the food was no better. Service in all three pubs was good.

"On a positive note the property was immaculate and contained everything one would need for a self catering stay and apart from one issue was very comfortable and pleasant and we did enjoy our time there."
However the description is very misleading as although to does lay on the outskirts of Richmond it could not be further away from the town and is certainly only a walk for the super fit amongst us. The double bed is actually a queen double and very uncomfortable for the large and tall. There are 4 cottages available and for the 3 which are side by side there is very little outside space and that space is not private at all as you find yourself in very close proximity to the adjoining ones. The fourth cottage certainly has a really good outside area and would be the best one to select if you enjoy sitting and dining outdoors. I have given a 4 star rating as our stay was pleasant and just lacks a more truthful and accurate description for the ones who are not super fit and extremely social dwarfs !

"We chose this cottage becase it had a bath."
The photos are misleading. The bath was tiny - I couldn't even sit down properly in it and banged my head on the sink. The bath was no more than a glorified shower tray and the shower was weak. The bedrooms were cramped and the pillows felt thin. However it was very clean and covenient. Overall, it felt like it was in need of a makeover and to reduce the number of guests from 4 to 2.

I think it’s fair to point out for future guests that you are the 2nd guest to stay in Jasmine which has been freshly decorated professionally with new carpets and furniture. The photos are a true representation of the property they are not taken with a wide angled lens. The bath is 1500mm x 800mm a standard bath is 1700mm x 700mm a standard shower tray is 700mm x 700mm. "Couldn't get into cottage,booking not registered,had to leave for 2 hours whilst cleaners did their job,cottage was tiny,photos misleading,no back garden,only one way in and one way out,no escape route if fire happened,also trouble with no hot water!"
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you arrived 2 hours before check in, check in is at 3pm, the cleaners were still working hard to get the cottage ready to our very high standard. I would also like to point out that a full fire and risk assessment has been carried out and passed by Skyes. We have had a new boiler fit and within an hour of you reporting that the water was cold, I had an engineer attend and rectify it, this would have only affected you if you were washing up, the shower is electric, or the weather was cold, as it was 28* I apologise you had to wait an hour to wash up. It states in the listing there is a front patio area with furniture, which is exactly what there is, I'm sorry you assumed there was a back garden and another door in the cottage. I'm glad you received your mobile phone back in the post which I posted on secure next day delivery for you.> Regards Property Owner

RICHMOND
Barnard Castle 10 miles; Leyburn 12 miles.
Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. Its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071, famously situated high above the river - indeed the name Richmond is derived from 'Riche-mont' meaning 'strong hill'. Today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The town flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries and the resulting elegant Georgian architecture lines many of the old streets. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
