Cross Cottage was comfortable, well-equipped and centrally located for all the activities we wanted to do during our stay. The cottage itself was pristinely clean whilst still welcoming and friendly. The eggs were well-received.

Living area upstairs was comfortable and airy. Well equipped kitchen . Beds were all very comfortable and bed linen was of good quality . Particularly liked the jack and Jill en-suite bathroom. Plenty of parking and good location for visiting National trust locations .

  • "We stayed at Cross Cottage in Brancepeth for the New Year and could not have enjoyed it more."

All thought had been given to comfort and making it a true home from home and the owners were friendly, easy going and very helpful. We were lucky with a week of clear weather, and the footpaths on our doorstep beckoned. However if it had rained the barn was well stocked with games, books, DVD's and music and was wonderful for the five of us to spread out in and just relax! The bathrobes and furnishings in the bedrooms gave the stay a real feel of luxury - a real treat and a lovely contrast to going out into the sharp winter weather to feed the very popular chickens. We will definitely be visiting again.

  • "The cottage was superbly equipped including monogrammed towels and bathrobes which were unexpected."

All furnishings and beds were of a very high standard and everything worked as it should which is not always the case in holiday cottages. The owners were on site and available with little extra touches such as vouchers for different places. The only slight inaccurate detail was that the listing said 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms whereas it was one en suite and a jack and jill wetroom for the other 2 bedrooms with an upstairs claokroom( the cottage is upside-down) Apart from that there are many places to visit in fairly close proximity eg Beamish,Raby Castle,Durham,Binchester Roman Fort, Escomb Saxon church, Brancepeth castle etc.We were blessed with excellent weather!

  • "This accommodation was just what we needed as my daughter, son in law and three grandchildren were relocating back to Durham from Sydney, Australia."

With my eldest grandson starting school, the middle granddaughter starting nursery and a five week old baby the cottage was just perfect. Lovely and warm and cosy, spotlessly clean and exceptionally well equipped. Comfortable beds and great bathroom facilities too. The owner was very accommodating and helpful, being on site has its benefits. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to others too.
