  • "This is a beautiful and spotlessly clean cottage, nestled in a friendly little village."

So many thoughtful features in each room and the most comfortable nights stay we have ever had. Would highly recommend!

  • "The cottage was beautifully finished and really didn’t lack anything."

We also had Christmas decorations and a tree which made us feel so cosy and completed the stay wonderfully. Plenty of heating and hot water and a welcome hamper full of things we actually needed and used. I would definitely recommend.

  • "What a delightful holiday cottage!"

We stayed for 3 nights, and this cottage was perfect for a half-term break for 2 adults and 3 kids. The cottage had everything we could need (and more!) in the kitchen. The house is decorated and furnished to a high standard, we were very impressed. The owner was great at communicating with us too. We were thrilled with the generous welcome basket - thank you, it was very much appreciated!

  • "Excellent, cosy cottage - beautiful decor, superbly equipped (great smart tv) and brilliantly clean."

Full en suite wet room with second toilet, shower and sink (small room but perfectly formed) was an unexpected bonus. Village was pretty and made up for the lack of garden to walk our dog on. Safe on street car parking was always available within a 1 minute walk if not enough space out front. We enjoyed visiting both the dales and coast from here - numerous day trip excursions within 50 minutes drive. Close by Richmond and its awesome castle was well worth a visit too. Will almost certainly come back another time!

  • "Property was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack of essentials and treat was appreciated."

The house is as described, with everything you need in the kitchen if you want to cook. Parking on the road is as described, tight, but manageable. Bedrooms and decoration are all good size and pretty decorations, giving a homely feel. Located in a quiet village, it’s easy to get around by car to local attractions. One relatively small complaint, perhaps time to review the leave by time? not sure 9am is necessary, given check in isn’t until 4pm.

  • "Whilst we know there is little the owners can do about this, we wish to express our disappointment with the car parking arrangements."

Only once during our week long stay were we able to park outside the house. The rest of the time we had to park some distance away which was most inconvenient particularly when we packed the car on our departure. We feel the parking situation was not clearly enough explained in the advertising literature.

Everything was as described, very comfortable and warm with everything we needed and more. We had a little issue with the hot water but thanks to Karen, it was very quickly sorted. Thank you so much for the fantastic welcome basket too...it even had some Easter eggs in, which our grown up children had great fun organising an egg hunt!

  • "A great cottage in a beautiful village."

The cottage is well appointed and spacious and really home from home. The owners were fantastic, and nothing too much trouble. Other than a pub, the village does not have a local shop, so ensure you take what you need, or buy essentials when you're out and about as there is nowhere to walk to for a loaf of bread or milk. However, our welcome pack from the owners meant we had plenty in! The lane outside the property is narrow, so if you have a very large vehicle or are a nervous driver, I would advise parking nearby. Other than to load and unload I parked my car on the adjacent road and never had trouble finding space. It was only 300 yards away, so not a big deal for me. It's a great base to explore the local area. The train station at nearby Darlington gets you North to Durham or South to York, so you can travel further afield. We liked the Mainsgill Tea Room on the A66 and Easby Abbey is worth a trip for the echo stone. You can park in Richmond and walk the mile or park in Easby itself. We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunny evenings, so met the neighbours and local dog walkers. It really is a serene part of the world and oh so quiet! Sykes were top notch with regard to email communications sending us information regards the property.

Karen met us at a social distance outside the property with the key in the door and gave us a handover and made sure we were happy with the very clear fact sheet sent on the day of arrival. The local pubs offer a fab dining experience in a safe secure track and trace environment. There is a quaint village pub you can easily walk to with a fish and chip van every Thursday from 5 pm that I can hugely recommend. We will be back thank you for a much needed relax and great experience xx

Would recommend Richmond and Barnard Castle for a wander around. Both had interesting individual shops and cafes. The Bowes Museum was was worth a visit. Very well presented, a few bits of equipment missing (like large pan - we bought one) that you tend to find in cottages being rented for the first time, but lots of very nice touches including welcome basket. Lovely village, with lots of places to visit around within 5-20 miles. Garden/yard is in front of cottage and across very quiet road, however was not quite so convenient as having rear garden for the dog, not clear on the cottage description on the site. Shower in main bathroom, very low and not really useable for anyone over 5'8", however bath does have shower attachment. Overall a good stay and would recommend
