  • "Just enjoyed a two week stay at this well appointed accommodation which is modern very clean and fulfilled all our needs."

    Sited just outside Leyburn gives access to a wide range of locations in North Yorkshire. With a charming and friendly host Hazel who was a mine of information. For bird lovers there is a large variety of birds coming to the feeders and Pheasant's are present in the garden. Make friends with Henrietta the resident hen who appreciates being fed.   • "The owner's are lovely gave good ideas for places to eat, and nothing was to much trouble they certainly have everything you could need in the cottage and if you want anything extra they are more than happy to help The area is lovely was at disappointed about the at first road but it wasn't a problem at all."

    The garden is wonderful, especially seeing all the birds on the feeders and hopping around. The welcome hamper was the icing on the cake and far exceeded expectations. Hazel and Andrew are exceptional hosts. We had a great time - in spite of mainly cool, cloudy weather - and hope to go back.

  • "The owner, who lives in an attached house, has three cats, which free range around Fieldfare Lodge."

    These are not mentioned in the Lodge particulars and we feel they should be, as many, including us, cannot stand these creatures! Indeed some may be allergic to them. A cat features in one photo in the comprehensive gallery, but it is inside the owner’s house. The Lodge lacks a shaver point: at least we could not locate it, so it was remarkably well hidden.

    The cottage is situated in an ideal position for touring the dales and the facilities provided are wonderful down to a very welcoming food pack. Andrew and Hazel do their utmost to make you feel welcome. The back garden can be a sun trap and a haven for those who like to watch the local wildlife.

    Warm welcome from owners, thereafter unobtrusive. Offers from owners for lifts to pub/walks - couldn’t take advantage due to Covid situation. Sky/Netflix/WiFi. Request for frying pan dealt with within 2 minutes. Great walking country. Can highly recommend; will use again for this area.

    Although small it is bright and cosy with everything you need for a weeks stay. The welcome pack provided by the owner exceeds all expectations. The garden is a joy, bird feeders everywhere to ensure there is plenty of activity and bird song all day. The cottage is situated in an ideal location for walking or driving to explore the beautiful surrounding area. Convenient for both Leyburn and Bedale for shopping. We have stayed before and will definitely stay again.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat.
