Sited just outside Leyburn gives access to a wide range of locations in North Yorkshire. With a charming and friendly host Hazel who was a mine of information. For bird lovers there is a large variety of birds coming to the feeders and Pheasant's are present in the garden. Make friends with Henrietta the resident hen who appreciates being fed. We would certainly stay again.
With the aid of an OL30 OS map we were able to start most of the local walks straight from the door.
The only problem was the week went too quickly and we were sorry to leave the cosy cottage.

"The owner, who lives in an attached house, has three cats, which free range around Fieldfare Lodge."
These are not mentioned in the Lodge particulars and we feel they should be, as many, including us, cannot stand these creatures! Indeed some may be allergic to them. A cat features in one photo in the comprehensive gallery, but it is inside the owner’s house.
The Lodge lacks a shaver point: at least we could not locate it, so it was remarkably well hidden.
