  • "The lodge was clean and the bed was very comfortable."

However, the bathroom needed updating. The shower wasn't very good one day it was cold another so hot l burnt my back, you couldn't change the temperature. There wasn't a clothes dryer to put wet towels on.The television was terrible, didn't give a proper picture so that you could not see or hear what was going on.We had a few cold nights because of the rain, the cabin was damp the central heating could not go higher than 15degrees.We will not be going there again.

  • "We stayed for a week in July 2023."

We were looking for somewhere to recharge and relax and We had a fantastic stay, lodge was lovely and welcoming even thou we arrived on a very wet miserable day. The milk and freshly baked cakes were a lovely touch. As was the other wee bits and pieces to help start us off. The park is immaculate and so very peaceful. Great walks for our dog. Lovely neighbours and other residents. Really couldn't fault anything, absolutely brilliant. Brenda, John and Pauline were great and available if needed just at end of the phone. We can't wait to return. Thanks again for a brilliant stay.

  • "Toilet cistern constantly refilling every 90 seconds and faulty tap in bathroom as made aware to the owner by myself during our stay with know mention of when it would be fixed."

Dripping kitchen tap which has been mentioned before in previous reviews. In the welcome book it states only to turn taps on a quarter and not to exceed 15° on the thermostat as the boiler will cut out. We checked out a day early due to the noisy toilet cistern.

  • "After being extremely excited for a getaway with our dog we were left extremely disappointed and didn't stay, on arrival we was informed that the boiler was on the brink and the pressure had been turned down, the part had been ordered but no ETA so until it arrived the pressure would be bad, the washing up bowl inside the boiler cupboard catching the drips from the leaking boiler, the hot water was working however it was a very low pressure and took an age to run warm, it was so slow there was little chance of running a warm bath in any respectable timeframe, we then found the dog friendly side to be very limited."

Please be aware that if you are visiting with your dog that they are not allowed within the bedroom area at all (It's not listed here but is in a welcome book when arriving inside the property in the words of 'Strictly no pets allowed in the bedroom'), and as per Sykes T&Cs pets are not allowed on soft furnishings / sofa, which means your dog realistically has to sleep closed up in a small hallway overnight with doors to the bedroom and living area / kitchen closed, near the side entrance door - to some this may not be an issue but for those of us who live with our pet by our side it was abit of a shock when 'pets allowed' is shown, so be aware. At the time of our visit there was a very strong smelling diffuser in the living area which could induce headaches if your sensitive to strong smells, the bedroom had a somewhat damp smell to it not overpowering but worth noting, the shower leaked when we turned it on from the back of the shower head, one of the rooms (From the size I suspect to be a single bedroom) is locked which feels a bit strange to not have access to the whole property, you also can't adjust the heating otherwise it will cut the boiler out so it's set to 16-18° and cant be changed. The living area felt warm enough, however the bedroom was quite chilly in May, in the warmer months this won't be an issue though. The couple that own the property seemed genuinely lovely, fresh home made desserts and milk were waiting in the fridge, it's just a shame about the issues. The hot water and pet rules were raised with Sykes who tried to help however all we were offered was a stay later in the year which with the pet rules doesn't suit us. There is no phone signal on site with EE, internet connection is provided though, living area seemed like it could be a nice cosy space, kitchen area had everything you would need (Pots, Pans, Cutlery ect) and from what we saw things were generally fairly clean although we didn't stay long enough to really check.

Sorry you felt obliged to publish this review !! If you had told us you wanted to sleep with your dog I'd have told you before arrival. Property Owner

The holiday site was lovely - the holiday home was clean on first inspection but we later saw dirty 'dog nose art' on the patio doors - other windows were dirty - hair in bathroom basin -loo seat loose - light switches need a good wipe - dripping kitchen tap - decking area needs a lot of TLC and clean perhaps a coat of paint would be good - entrance steps poor state of repair - mop bucket left with dirty water in it - litter and old plant pots left lying about - poor instructions for holiday home and site - main seating area needs a lamp - no hair dryer - bathroom could do with a vanity mirror for shavers a towel rail perhaps and the shelf was not fixed -overall we left very disappointed -

  • "Great peaceful getaway."

. the site itself has a lot owners staying there that make you feel very welcome. The place feels very safe and immaculately kept, there is also a dog walking area that is part of the site. The only negative we had on the whole experience is the lodge we stayed in could do with the WiFi upgraded as it was very sketchy at times. Finally we loved it that much we have bought one of the lodges that will also be with Sykes as they have been A1 from the start.
