This beautiful, stone-built terraced cottage was built in 1680, in the centre of the pretty village of Preston-under-Scar, just three miles from Leyburn.
It is one of our finest cottages in the Yorkshire Dales and has an unusual, appealing layout, full of lovely surprises at every turn.
From the immense charm of the dining kitchen to the beautiful sitting room and attractive bedrooms, this is a holiday home of considerable merit.
The cottage is set over three floors, featuring a lower ground floor kitchen/diner, which looks out over the rear, south facing garden and has comfy seating for four by a cosy woodburning stove.
There is also a handy utility/boot room, which leads to a covered porch and offers another entrance into the property from the street, where you can dry the dog off after a long walk.
The spacious sitting room is on the ground floor and has a feature Georgian fireplace, a lovely mixture of old and new furnishings and a fabulous, south-facing balcony, which enjoys panoramic views out across the dale and Penhill.
Outside, the garden is enclosed, with a terraced seating area where, in the summer, you can sit and relax with an evening tipple.
A modern shower room is also found on the ground floor and upstairs, there is a bathroom and three stylish bedrooms, one with excellent views and a double bed, another with a king-size double bed and finally, a single bedroom.
This 300-year old cottage is located on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with lovely walks leading from the doorstep, including a pretty walk through the woods to Leyburn Shawl.
Alternatively, if you’re after something a little more energetic, the challenge of Penhill awaits!
