“'The Stables' is a beautiful barn conversion on a working farm.”

It is beautifully furnished with quality fittings in every room. The beds are so comfortable. The kitchen is superb with everything you would need in the cupboards, ie, tea, coffee, sauces, condiments etc. etc. There is underfloor heating which kept us cosy - especially in the bathrooms! Our hosts, Angela and Jack could not have been more welcoming - but without being 'overbearing'. We were very surprised to see that a welcome hamper had been left for us including a bottle of Prosecco, chocolates, fresh milk, fresh fruit, preserves and more. There were even fresh flowers in the kitchen. We were kept amused by the chickens, guinea fowls and ducks which hopped around outside. Jack is a mine of information about the area and loves to chat. The area surrounding the property is beautiful - and really handy for sightseeing. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return.

About the location

RAVENSWORTH

Richmond 4.5 miles; Barnard Castle 8 miles.

The peaceful, unspoilt and extremely pretty little village of Ravensworth lies just to the north of Richmond in a minor tributary of the River Swale. Made up of pretty, weathered sandstone cottages with their unusual 'Yorkshire' roofs - a mix of soft red pantiles and slate – the village is centred around a wide, picturesque village green. At one end of the green the popular Bay Horse Inn serves good food and drink. Pretty footpaths run from Ravensworth through the surrounding villages allowing visitors to enjoy many circular walks. Close by are the popular Swaledale market town of Richmond and the Teesdale market town of Barnard Castle. Both offer a wide range of amenities and shops. A lovely restful location!
