Mrs Robinson made us very welcome and is a good source of local knowledge. The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed. The local walks are lovely and nearby Castle Bolton adds some historical interest. Thanks again Mrs R.

Great location to get around the Dales. It's the 2nd time we have stayed. I hope it won't be the last. We didn't have any problems but if you did the owner is next door.

Comfortable for a family of four and great back garden for the kids. Ideally located for Castle Bolton and Asygarth Falls and just a short drive to Leyburn or Hawes. The owner was really friendly and the cottage was really clean and cosy. We'll definitely be back soon.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

Mrs Robinson was really helpful and hospitable. The house is extremely comfortable and cosy and has a pleasant secluded rear garden and seating area. The local hostelry serves food and real ale and is a short stroll. There is a picturesque walk nearby to the River Ure and the Redmire waterfalls which rival Aysgarth Falls. The village is also close to the historic Bolton Castle which is a medieval survivor and well worth a visit.

  • "Cottage was very clean and tidy."

The owner was very easy to talk to and a lovely lady. The village was very picturesque with many walks to go on with at least 5 pubs within walking distance. Aysgarth falls is a must to go and see. We would definitely go back here.

The cottage was perfect for us - comfortable beds and a good shower. The kitchen is really well equipped and the house was spotless. We would definitely visit again and recommend the area for walking and pub lunches.

  • "Our party of 3 adults had a very enjoyable 4-night stay in South View, a lovely house with all you need, in a beautiful setting."

We found a high standard of cleanliness in all of the rooms and the beds really comfortable. We didn’t find the variable wi-fi a huge issue. The rear garden is pleasant to relax in when the sun shines. Thanks a lot to our friendly host Sue, who left a bottle of wine as a greeting. The Bolton Arms pub is a short stroll away and serves great food. Redmire is handy for many places of interest by car but there are superb short or long walks from the door as well. We’ll definitely be back!

  • "South View was a very nice place to stay."

Although the weather was chilly and damp outside, it was very comfortable and warm inside and, although we took logs, we never felt it necessary to light a fire. There was kindling and coal left for us. The small chest freezer was an unexpected extra and the fridge was a decent size. The kitchen was well equipped. There was plenty of hot water and a good shower and the house was spotless. The owner had left plenty of cleaning materials. The owner lives next door and was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The village is very quiet, even on curry night at the pub (recommended!). There are lots of walks on the doorstep. Do visit Redmire Force, which people overlook in favour of Aysgarth falls. We had a happy week and felt safe from covid!

Really quiet, peaceful and relaxing house and village. Friendly owner lives next door who is there to help if you need her but doesn't intrude on your holiday. Would highly recommend if you like to get away from the crowds. Internet signal a bit weak improvement would be a great plus point.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage."

Very warm and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped, and we enjoyed the use of the back garden on sunny days. Lots of walks right from the cottage door, and it is very central for other places in the Dales. Wifi is a bit hit and miss, and ended up using all our phone data as it just wouldn't connect properly, but this was a minor issue. Would highly recommend for people looking for a quiet and comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings.

  • "Southview Cottage in Redmire was just the ticket."

Whilst the weather was standard for the area, the cottage and its location could not have been better. Having stayed in numerous cottages in and around the Yorkshire Dales, this is by far one of the best and will be looking to revisit next year. Despite the obvious restrictions we all have had to face, the cottage was spotlessly clean and we all felt safe staying there. The Cottage was warm and its furnishings and furniture were comfortable. It is so quiet in the evening, has parking available and there is an excellent pub within 50 yards. Should anyone be tempted to stay at Southview in the future do not hesitate as it really is perfect

  • "Quite basic facilities, no freezer for example."

Whilst cottage was very clean the bed linen was of a poor quality and the pillows smelt. New duvets and pillows and some fresh white cotton bed linen would have made all the difference.

Thank you for your feedback. There is a working freezer in property located in the utility room. The bedding 400-500 thread count and the bedding is replaced on an annual basis. Property Owner

Excellent safe enclosed garden for dog and plenty of areas to explore with a dog. Great pub very close and dog friendly. But, would recommend you book in advance as very busy for food which is highly recommended!! Be aware that the village shop is run by volunteers and the opening times are in frequent. Leyburn is very close for essentials. Recommend a visit to nearby Bolton Castle, However not dog friendly due to livestock and birds of prey.

About the location

REDMIRE

Aysgarth 3 miles; Leyburn 4 miles.

The idyllic Wensleydale village of Redmire is situated in a walker’s paradise close to Castle Bolton, Leyburn and the famous Aysgarth Falls. Redmire is on the Wensleydale Railway, which features steam locomotives during the summer, and has regular special events. Castle Bolton, a mile away, is one of the finest preserved medieval castles in Yorkshire, and dates back to 1378. Much of the castle, with its mighty towers and rectangular courtyard, survived the orders to destroy famous Yorkshire castles issued by Parliament in the Civil War. Nearby Carperby was an important centre for Quakerism and the largest building today is the classically styled Friends Meeting House, which overlooks the market cross and village green. Redmire's village pub serves good food, and there is an excellent range of amenities in the nearby market town of Leyburn. What's more, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are both easily accessible from Redmire.

Note: The pub 1 min walk from the property is closed temporarily although there are other pubs are within 2-3 miles
