  • "A deceptively spacious apartment for 2 in the centre of Richmond, 2 mins from the market square, with the bonus of secure parking a few steps from the front door."

Clean, modern and very well equipped a perfect and quite private hideaway with plenty of light and views over Richmond through newly installed Georgian windows. We enjoyed our weeks stay very much.

  • "Overall warm and comfortable but there are a few issues."

The kitchen could do with a bread knife and Pyrex dishes or something similar to use in the oven and microwave. Needs another air freshener in the bathroom as it was empty. Parking was excellent and property in superb location in the town.

Thankyou for you positive feedback. We have replaced the knife and dish as well as the air freshener that was mentioned (not sure where the knife and dish have ended up). We are so pleased you were happy with what our property offers. Regards Karl & Natalie Property Owner

  • "A great centrally located flat at the back of the Kings Head."

The car parking space sells the property. It had everything we needed and was comfortable. Not all the windows opened and therefore airflow needs to be improved. If in Richmond again we would certainly rebook this flat.

Thank you for your feed back Glad you had a good stay. We have a programme to replace the windows so hopefully that issue will be resolved. Karl & Natalie Property Owner

  • "Only one of three strip lights under the kitchen wall cupboards was working, and one bedside lamp on/off switch did not work (LED bulb was OK), but we could manage."

There was no clothes hook in the shower room for dressing gown etc, and no shelf/basket in the shower for sponge, shampoo and shower gel. We we there in September during a mini heat wave (30 C )and only the two front sash window could be opened to a five inches (125mm) gap at the bottom, and there was a 13.5 tog duvet on the bed, which we removed.

Thankyou for your feed back and highlight to the light issue. I have now replaced the lights under the kitchen units so they are working now. The bedside lamp is working as well. I`m sorry your duvet was to much when the heat wave was here I am glad you were able to remove it to keep cool. I hope it didn`t spoil your stay. Regards Karl & Natalie Property Owner

Stairs could be a problem for some. Would happily stay there again.

  • "Great location."

Accommodation had all we required for the holiday. Fantastic that there was parking. Note, ignore the numbers painted on the floor. Parking is against the wall, to the left of tha carpark, as you drive in. There is actually a plaque on the wall! Also, the bed, for a double, was smaller than expected (is it really a 3/4 bed?). Towels are a bit on the small side. Oh and the tv is a smart TV, this is not actually detailed in the description, which was a bonus.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feed back. Glad you had a good time. I have changed the details that gets sent out to guests to give better instructions on the car parking to make sure the correct parking is found. Regards Karl & Natalie Property Owner

  • "I had a lovely week at 3 Kings Mews."

Apart from an initial tussle with the key safe, everything was perfect. It’s a very comfortable flat in a great location for visiting Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales. There’s lots to see on the doorstep. The Richmondshire Museum over the road is very interesting. And beautiful Swaledale Wensleydale and the gorgeous villages close by. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you Margaret for taking the time to write a review. I`m glad you were able to sort the key safe issue out. We`ve not had a problem before but I will monitor the situation. We are pleased you had an enjoyable stay. Regards Karl & Natalie Property Owner

The flat is very comfortable and is ideally situated for visiting my family. If I owned it, I would turn down the temperature of the hot water and reduce the power in the living room door closure, I’ve a bruised hand! I’ll be back.

Thankyou Kate for taking the time to do a review. I`m glad you found the flat comfortable while visiting your family. We have now turned the water temperature down and I will look at the fire closure to see if I can make it easier to open. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future Regards Karl Property Owner

The property is compact but adequate for two adults. The bed mattress was on the soft side. Despite the location, there was no problem with noise. Very conveniently located for Richmond town centre, with lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs, plus other amenities, within a few minutes walk.

Thankyou for your feed back Sorry you had trouble finding the property, this is the first time it has been mentioned. I will keep an eye on this to make sure it isn't an issue and update if required. Karl & Natalie Property Owner

  • "The property is ideally situated in Richmond, to use as a base and explore the beautiful county of N."

Yorkshire. Was newly decorated and looked good. However due to the sash windows being painted we were unable to open them, which in this very hot weather made evenings and night time, very uncomfortable. The apartment needed airing. Also the internal doors were stiff to open on the new carpets. I reported an issue with the shower which was dealt with. On arrival a kitchen unit door was hanging off and stayed like that all week. There was no salad box in the fridge, and no microwaveable containers with lids for cooking. However other than the 2 items above we thought was well provisioned. We feel that once the issues are sorted out this will be a top holiday property.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. I’m glad we were able to resolve the shower issue while you were there and it didn’t spoil your stay. I was unable to address the other issues as we were away. I have been into the flat today and shaved more from the bathroom door so it opens more easily. I have made a repair to the kitchen door and it opens and closes effectively and is no longer hanging off. The windows in the lounge have always been openable, even in this heat, but there was a knack to it. As it can be tricky to lift the sashes so they are rising evenly on both sides from the bottom, today I have also fitted brass hooks as well as new locks- so hopefully future guests will find this easier. • "The property was ideally located for what we wanted to do The flat fulfilled our requirements from aspect of we just wanted a simple place to sleep and have breakfast as we would be out for all day and evening."

Just a few niggles, 2 doors need the bottom edge shaving as they will only open halfway and I am a big lad, kitchen cupboard door hanging off and the shower takes time to drain. The cleaner need to check for cobwebs and spiders as I had to clear seven from various corners on arrival (the wife insisted) Don't let this deter anyone as they are all easily remedied by a bit of attention to detail. I would use again if in the area as it located within very close to pubs and great access to the A1.

Thank you for your feed back. Glad you had an enjoyable stay The issues have been addressed. Property Owner

  • "This is the worse property we have stayed in."

Fumes from freshly painted walls, which a child could have painted better, the windows would not open as they had been painted shut. The kitchen must have been secondhand as the cupboards were dirty and greasy, someone had left a frying pan in the cupboard with fat still in it, so the cleaner hadn't check the cupboards, the electric hob worked but it was not in a good state. There wasn't a mattress protector on the bed.and the only good thing about it - new carpets in the lounge area and bedroom but the doors needed shaving as the doors were sticking to the carpet so they were very hard to open, oh and not forgetting the cobwebs in every room.

Thank you, Anne, for writing your review as it is always great to hear from customers. It is disappointing that you feel you didn't have a good experience and very surprising to hear. We have had lots of good feedback both verbally and online about our property, so this was a surprise. The property was painted in May so the walls although not up to your painting standards obviously were fresh, no-one else had reported smell of fumes from paintwork and I have been in the property several times and hadn't experienced it. I can only apologise if it did affect you. The window in the lounge does open but I do accept that they don't all open easily as I'm sure you understand with older sash windows they can swell at certain times of the year, thank you for bringing it to my attention, I will look at this and aim to have the windows situation rectified. As to the cleanliness of the property I am surprised you didn't call either Sykes, the caretaker or myself whose numbers are published in the welcome pack on day 1 of your 7 days stay and this would have been addressed straight away as this goes against all the other 100% positive feedback on cleanliness. You make a comment about having a second-hand kitchen which I don't understand, the kitchen isn't a new kitchen (nowhere in the listing does it say it's a new kitchen) it is the one that was bought when the property was renovated several years ago. You mention about the doors sticking to the carpets, you are correct that they have been replaced recently but, in the property, there are two fire doors for your safety, so they have the fire door closers on which do mean that you need to put a little more pressure on to open them. We do have a mattress protector and you are correct it wasn't on, it got missed off after cleaning, as it was a quick turnaround. This issue has been resolved. I`m sorry you couldn't see past the cobwebs to enjoy all the new equipment we have provided for customers. You didn't mention the newly refurbished shower room, I do hope that was to your satisfaction. I do feel your review while it makes a couple of valid comments was wholly unfair and not a true representation of our property. Good luck on your next break away. Karl Property Owner

About the location

RICHMOND

Barnard Castle 10 miles; Leyburn 12 miles.

Situated at the entrance to Swaledale, the ancient market town of Richmond stands on a prominent hilltop site to the north of the River Swale. Its cobbled streets and narrow alleys or 'wynds' enshrine over nine centuries of busy history and unique character. The town grew up around its castle, a Norman fortress dating back to 1071, famously situated high above the river - indeed the name Richmond is derived from 'Riche-mont' meaning 'strong hill'. Today there are wonderful walks to be enjoyed such as the Castle Walk - a dramatic terrace walk beneath the castle walls - or alternatively walk alongside the River Swale where there are parks, safe paddling areas and small waterfalls to enjoy. Within the town, narrow streets and alleys radiate from the cobbled Market Place (which has a weekly market and monthly farmers’ market) and there are numerous shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. The town flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries and the resulting elegant Georgian architecture lines many of the old streets. The Georgian Theatre is one of the oldest surviving theatres in the country with visitors enjoying its regular productions all year round.
