The property

Ross Cottage is a delightful stone cottage that can be found lying at the centre of the rural village of Scorton, near the town of Richmond.

Surrounded by the stunning English countryside, this attractive dwelling provides a fabulous base for four from which to explore North Yorkshire.

Step inside the welcoming dining room and be greeted by a spacious table set with a pretty blue plates and a lovely runner, where you can indulge in a feast for all whilst you crack open a bottle of fizz and toast to the good times ahead.

Wander through to the warm embrace of the sitting room with striking exposed beams and make yourself comfortable on the plush grey sofa or one of two armchairs decorated with attractive yellow cushions, as the flames from the fire roar in the woodburning stove that sits happily within the inglenook fireplace.

Head up into the charming country kitchen with lovely cream units filled with useful utensils and contemporary appliances, where you can pop on the kettle and pour yourself a warm cup of tea before joining the group back in the sitting room and turning on the TV to find an entertaining movie for all to watch.

Climb the staircase to the first floor and discover a tranquil and airy bathroom boasting both a walk-in shower as well as a bath, so that you can enjoy some peace and quiet as you indulge in a deep soak in the tub.

Hang your clothes neatly in the homey master bedroom where you can kick back and relax in the beautiful oak king-size bed with delightful blue accents, as you watch a movie on the well-thought TV or take a seat at the pretty white dressing table and get ready for the evening ahead.

Take your dinner outdoors for some alfresco dining on a warm summer's night the cosy patio, as you while away an hour or two chatting about your most memorable moments from the holiday so far and watching as the sun begins to set on another wonderful day.

Hop in the car and head for Richmond to explore historical landmarks and imposing buildings such as Richmond Castle, Culloden Tower and the ruins of Easby Abbey.

Travel to Leyburn to wander the enchanting wonder of The Forbidden Corner before stopping by Harmby Waterfall for a beautifully scenic hike.

Venture further afield to Oldstead to dine in the outstanding Michelin Star Restaurant, Black Swan Oldstead, or enjoy a night on the town in Darlington.

Resting peacefully on the edge of Richmond, you will find the picture-perfect village of Scorton. Famous for its luscious raised green lawn, only one of two in England, this charming village has so much to offer during your stay in the area. At the centre of the village you will find two well-established pubs where you can enjoy a pint or two with the friendly locals, as well as a quintessential village shop and Post Office housing all of the essentials. For something different you can also enjoy the Scorton Feat which happens the third Sunday of August every year. A few miles away lies the wonderful town of Richmond, where you can explore the grounds of the imposing ruins of Easby Abbey or embark on a scenic hike to the River Swale Waterfalls or through the magnificent National Trust owned Hudswell Woods. Spend a day in Darlington and wander the halls of Walworth Castle before delighting in a Birds of Prey experience like no other. Keep an eye out for the village’s fabulous annual feast, hosted on the lawn every year since 1257! Scorton makes a great base for any holiday to North Yorkshire.
