“We stayed at the Castle View for 3 nights over Christmas.”

This is an amazing place which is beautifully decorated with lots of nice touches. The apartment is very comfortable and met our requirements as a family of 4 adults and a family of 2 adults sharing the space. The owner had left a hamper and Prosecco which was a lovely touch and also had put up a Christmas tree. The outside space is fantastic with an amazing hot tub and lots of seating areas to just chill and take in the views. We had Christmas dinner at the Bonny Moorhen pub which is ...

We had Christmas dinner at the Bonny Moorhen pub which is literally just outside the castle gates, it was delicious and very reasonably priced and you get a warm welcome from the landlady, Zara. The local Indian takeaway is also worth a visit and there’s a co-op too for any bits and pieces. We really could have stayed here longer and would definitely recommend this apartment, it was just perfect.

The property

This historic grades two star listed castle and part of English heritage is a unique luxury ground floor apartment which is located amongst enticing scenery in the market town of Stanhope, on the North East side of Weardale.

Perfect for a group of friends or a family wishing to get away from it all, this retreat is a true representation of tranquillity, both inside and out.

The open-plan living area has been tastefully styled with a charming lounge and a characterful dining area, set-up for six people.

The kitchen lies adjacent, complimented by a neutral overtone, and off-set by black and white tiles.

There are some wonderful features to the room including a stereo and a view of the lovely garden area worth admiring.

You will be spoilt for choice between three fabulous bedrooms, all are accessorised with chandeliers, diamante headboards, and backed by a patterned feature wall.

You can cosy up in luxury, especially in the master bedroom which boasts its own en-suite, as well as a dressing table and TV, creating a lovely haven to unwind.

Continuing the modern feel, a family bathroom features a bath with a shower over, designed to that of a hotel standard.

After appreciating the glamorous interior, why not spend an hour or two in the hot tub, where you can really be at one with the location.

The town of Stanhope is home to a delightful high street, offering a wonderful selection of pubs, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks for when the sun is shining.
