"A beautiful cottage in an amazing place, cottage had everything you would ask for and more, outside space front and back which was great for our dog, kitchen has full size fridge freezer plus dishwasher and washing machine, the whole place was immaculately clean, lots of little extras provided, wine, fruit, chocolate."
Loads of room for 3 and a dog, would comfortably fit 4 people. Can't say anything negative about this cottage, will definitely return.

"Spotlessly clean cottage in a beautiful location."
Had everything we needed. The owner, Norma, is very friendly and helpful. Lots of lovely walks straight from the doorstep and plenty of places to visit within an hours drive at most. We headed up to Hadrian's Wall, Killhope Lead Mining Museum, Durham, Hamsterley Forest and Gibside. Very pleasant walk into Stanhope along the river.
If I have one criticism it is that the listing states off road parking. It is roadside parking, either outside the cottage, in front the garages at the end of the row or further up the lane. We never had a problem getting parked but please be aware off road parking is not available at this property.

"Lovely holiday in this cozy cottage with amazing views."
Comfortably furnished. Host was very helpful and sent texts with ideas of things to do. It was spotlessly clean and had been fogged, which made us feel much safer during covd-19!
Beamish museum and Bernard Castle are lovely places to visit. We aldo did an alpaca experience near Hexham.
A few things to mention- we would have liked more kitchen equiptment such as overproof dishes. Also the single bed matresses could do with replacing. Overall though a lovely cottage with good facilities and wonderful views. Would definitely recommend. Hoping to return.

"My son and I had a very enjoyable stay at Footway cottage."
The cottage is immaculately clean and comfortable. The area is also very peaceful and there are plenty of outdoor spaces to explore, including a river path within walking distance of the cottage. Stanhope is also relatively easy to walk to and even quicker by bike.
Norma is friendly and helpful. She gave us good advice on things to do in the area, including all the dog friendly places in the vicinity.
The highlights of our visit included Hamsterly Forrest for cycling and walking, Barnard Castle for the Bowes Museum, market and surrounding countryside, the Beamish Museum and Derwent Reservoir. The Mega Milkshakes at the Boat Shack alone make the short drive to Derwent Reservoir worth it. Bring your appetite!
Durham isn't that far a drive either. If you haven't been before it's well worth a visit.

"Cottages was a place to relax, country side views all around, very comfortable."
And we had Norma looking after us via the occasional text message, location was perfect Barnard Castle market day Wednesday only 20 miles from the cottage, if visiting Barnard Castle we would recommend lunch at the 3 horse shoes, locally the Dale centre Stanhope, Durham only 20 miles. Plan to return next year to the cottage

"Even though the weather was quite wet some of the days, the local town of Stanhope was really nice, with coffee shops etc and pubs with nice gardens for meals."
Our cottage owner had mentioned also that through the village there is an open air heated swimming pool - this was really good for our grand-daughter and for me (a non-swimmer) I could sit with a coffee and watch. The staff were very helpful about times and information - certainly worth mentioning in the info regarding local attractions nearby.
The walks along the nearby riverbank were very nice, especially when the water was high after some very heavy rain.
The cottage itself was very nice and comfortable and I think our grand-daughter would have moved in if she could :-)
Many thanks, Ann, Keith and Taylor

Close enough to the village to access the facilities it is far enough away to be peaceful. The facilities in the cottage are good and the views are outstanding. The master bedroom is a great size and the bed is very comfortable. The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. Walks along the river are lovely and I saw a kingfisher!

The owners Norma and David were very welcoming, contacted us to tell us the cottage was ready. After having driven from home in pouring rain we were more than ready for a cup of tea, Norma had filled the kettle and put teabags in mugs ready for us which we very much appreciated. Highly recommend.
