  • "Just enjoyed a fabulous stay at Knights Corner."

Everything was perfect for our Christmas Holiday. Hot tub was amazing and huge outdoor area to enjoy. We sat outside with the wood burner on watching the amazing stars under the dark skies. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a holiday in the area. Everything you need is close by also with the main street through Stanhope only a stones throw away. Finally - Thanks to the lovely owner Scott and his wife for being so helpful with our queries.

Its very quiet within a beautiful village. Apartment was spacious and well decorated. Once the heating was on it was lovely and cosy too and we all loved the hot tub. The garden is big so plenty of space for the little ones and a swing set.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend in knights corner."

The property was exactly as it looked in the photos, the apartment and garden area were huge, even as a party of 6 adults we had plenty of space. The large windows in the property are beautiful, the main one looks out over trees and fields, gorgeous views even in November. The apartment is very tastefully decorated, and cosy and comfortable. We loved using the hot tub. Would love to stay again.

  • "A lovely property situated in a lovely friendly town."

Everything we needed was provided. A large garden with swings and goal for football would have been perfect if our grandchildren could have come. Woodland to walk the dog, though she needed to be kept on the lead ( both by request from owners and from point of view of safety as she was inclined to want to throw herself over the side of steep slopes after the squirrels). Within minutes we could walk to shops, pubs and a beautiful walk be the side of the Weir River. A little further, and we could be on walks into the fells. Thank you for a great week.

Comfortable sofas, lovely dining area, well equipped kitchen, massive fridge/freezer. The WiFi is excellent. Bedrooms and bathrooms quite luxurious. The garden is huge and the views spectacular. The paths into the adjoining woodland make for a lovely walk. We saw squirrels, rabbits and an owl! The hot tub is really good!! Loads of towels provided and bath robes too! The village itself has plenty of shops (a well-stocked Coop, butchers, amazing bakery and greengrocers and the best hardware shop ever) and pubs. Loved the Bonny Moorhen and the Grey Bull. We had the best week and will definitely be back. PS for Scott, you said you wanted to know if anything was needed. A wooden spoon would be good and I think the calor gas on the BBQ is empty but we didn't use it so not sure. Thanks for providing such fabulous accomodation.

  • "Had a great relaxing week at Knights Corner."

Lovely hot tub and outside area for the kids 13 and 10 to play football etc. Nice clean, comfortable apartment with access through gate onto main street of shops and pubs. One or two things need attention. Cooker hood extractor not working. More kitchen utensils needed such as stirring spoons and spatulas. Spare bin bags would be nice and clarity over which bins to use as there was only one green bin with number 4 on but green and blue ones with number 5 on. Controls for shower in en suite very stiff. Also a torch would be handy as we had power cuts on first night (fault of utility provider not owner and sorted following day) and we were feeling around in the dark to use bathroom in the night. Otherwise really enjoyed our stay.

The accommodation is great and the outdoor area is amazing. Fantastic views, loads of space, best hot tub l have been in and the most private. It was surprisingly quiet outside considering the small bustling town with its three pubs were just at the other side of the walls. Only niggle we had was the blinds in the bedrooms were not good enough to stop light in th e morning so we were up very early. On the positive side it meant we were all up and outside sipping coffee, chatting and enjoying the bird songs and views. Another nice touch was the owners contacted us before we went to double check details and make sure we knew how to get there and how to get in etc. On arrival baby cot and high chair and extra baby snuggle blankets were waiting for us. They also had tea, coffee and sugar!! Finally, the chimenea, gas barbecue and hot tub were fantastic and really made it feel luxurious. Perfect accommodation in a great location with great walks. Enjoy!!!!

We had 2 couples and a granny in our party and we had our own rooms, 1 en-suite and 1 shared bathroom, so plenty of room for everyone to get ready and get out without queuing. Kitchen is very well equipped, so you can easily cook and serve your own meals if you don’t want to eat out - although the cafe in the square was lovely. Did I mention the hot tub? What a bonus! In a bespoke wooden gazebo to keep the rain off, perfect way to end the day - not overlooked, and nice to watch the moonrise in the early evenings in autumn/winter. Stanhope is a nice village with a great range of shops for supplies and good road links to Durham and beyond. Only thing stopping me giving 5 stars across the board is the lack of a dishwasher - but that’s a ‘boys job’ in my house lol

Right in Stanhope centre so handy for takeaway meals if your too busy out and about for cooking. Weardale is a very pretty part of the country. Nice walks if you get the weather. We shall most certainly return to Knight’s Corner again. The only negative was, because I have walking issues, were the seven stairs leading into/out of the apartment, it only being the one way to enter. A handrail would be a great help but maybe as it is a listed building, that may not be possible. A dishwasher would have been very handy also if there was somewhere to have one installed. Perfectly located for walks. Due to Covid most places that serve food are closed but other places are open in villages a few miles away. My only issue was the double bed. On the first night the wooden lats underneath the mattress had come loose (unbeknown to me) and the mattress was dipped making it incredibly uncomfortable. After being advised the following day by the owner that we should pull up the mattress and fix the lats back in and turn the mattress it was more comfortable - so just a heads up, apparently this happens a lot. Otherwise this was a great and comfortable stay!

The village of Stanhope is picturesque and has some great local shops and takeaways. Our children also love the park. If you have concerns about going away during the pandemic, this is the perfect place to have a break away from it all. The owner and their team are very approachable and responsive to any queries. It could have benefited from having a dishwasher but since the Coronavirus lock down started while we were there, there was plenty of time to get the dishes done. Would love to have been able to enjoy the local attractions and pubs, but covid 19 curtailed that side of things. Still, if you had to Self Isolate, this property was Ideal. The views from the garden stunning. Very comfortable inside. The bath in the main bathroom needs a little alteration. The water runs off the wall side onto the floor, making the floor tiles awash and very slippery. Perhaps the owners could do a little DIY to make this right. Also the front door key is very temperamental. It took a while to open on most occasions. I might be nit picking now but it would have been nice to have more than 2 toilet rolls for a whole week, and some washing up liquid would be good. Having said all that I would return to this property because of the wow factor and the location.

It was comfy, clean and in a great location, plus the huge garden and hot tub were used every evening. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a base in this area of the country. The kitchen is well equipped and the additional extras such as satellite TV, Bluetooth speakers, and a chimnea all helped make it a memorable stay. There are a couple of minor improvements which would have made us appreciate the stay even more. Whilst there was a lovely welcome pack provided with a bottle of fizz (thank you!), we ran out of washing-up liquid/loo roll/ washing powder/kitchen roll within a few days. It would have been nice if the owners could have ensured there was enough of all of these items to last a week and save us the expense of replacing them all. Also some instructions on how to work the hot tub would have been welcome too. We managed to sort an issue with the filter program not running by finding tutorial videos on YouTube, but it would have been nice if full user instructions had been provided. Finally, it's now 2 weeks since we left and we've yet to have the housekeeping bond returned to us which is a bit disappointing. Overall though these are just minor issues and didn't distract from a great holiday in a great place. We wouldn't hesitate recommending this place to anyone looking for a chilling break

The photos on the Sykes site were exactly what was there - no photo-shopping or funny angles necessary. The owner had provided an extensive welcome pack which really made our first night and covered all the necessities so often missing from holiday rentals (toilet roll, kitchen roll, salt and pepper, cooking oil, washing up liquid as well as groceries including milk, tea and coffee, beautiful bread and jam and even chocolates and prosecco!). The rooms were large and well appointed, and the bathroom and en-suite were perfect for our 3-generations group. All was spotlessly clean and smelled lovely with the vase of fresh flowers in the living room. The hot tub (one of the main reasons we picked this property) was superb - being covered but with lights etc meant we could use it even in the drizzle or the dark - and we enjoyed the company of the neighbourhood cat on one evening! Wallpaper and furniture seemed to complement the castle theme. Beds were very comfortable. Just outside the bottom gate are two pubs and you are right in the centre of the village shopping area. The Co-op was very well stocked. Railway enthusiasts would be pleased to see the award winning station on the Weardale Railway that has a service on some days to Bishop Auckland. We visited High Force waterfall on the Tees and the Killhope Lead Mining Museum where we all went underground. Both are well worth a visit and not too far away.
