The apartment is fantastic. Beautifully decorated, furnished and all the facilities we required. It was spotless clean. The flowers and wine on arrival are a lovely touch especially after a 7 hour journey. We visited family in Stanhope. Stanhope is beautiful very picturesque and lovely walks to go on and a few little shops. We are planning to book again for the summer as it was just perfect.

A stone-built, former public house dating back to the 1800s, The Queens Apartments have been converted into three stunning, self-catering apartments. Wonderful walks can be enjoyed from these apartments, with the Weardale Way passing through the town, or why not take a wander along the high street to the stepping stones and cross the River Wear, from there a rather challenging incline will take you to the surrounding moorland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the second largest in England and Wales, boasting great scenery and wildlife? A short drive will take you to Barnard Castle, Durham, Corbridge, The Bowes Museum, High Force and Rokeby Hall, all easily reached for a day’s outing. The ancient market town of Stanhope lies in the beautiful Wear Valley in the heart of superb walking country. Described as the "Capital of Weardale", it occupies a sheltered position on the north side of the Wear at the confluence of the river and the Stanhope burn. The town is home to a delightful high street, offering a wonderful selection of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops, art galleries, a heated outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks, plus the town is on the C2C cycle route. Beautiful Blanchland, the "perfect village", lies just 10 miles away. The city of Durham is just 22 miles away and is a World Heritage Site boasting a magnificent cathedral and castle, plus Hadrian's Wall is within easy touring distance. Close by are Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum and Barnard Castle - a short picturesque drive away. Further afield is the award winning Beamish Living Museum, along with the Metro Centre housing 300 shops and a 12-screen cinema, plus the Lake District National Park is 43 miles away.
