    “Loved Softley View.”

It was like a posh home from home and had everything and more which you could possibly want. It was perfect for the two of us and had quite clearly had time, money and love invested in it. Would definitely recommend.

The property

Set at the heart of the market town of Stanhope, in County Durham is this striking castle, which has been transformed into a romantic bolthole.

Bring your loved one to Softley View for some quality time together as you discover all that the historical county has to offer and the glorious countryside of the North Pennines AONB.

Relax and unwind into your evening within the open-plan living room, which enjoys an elegant colour palette, contemporary fixtures and plush furnishings to ensure a welcoming space for you to enjoy for the duration of your stay.

In here, sleek kitchen units contain everything you could need to rustle up a delicious meal that can be enjoyed at the dining table, set up to two, and perfect for a toasting to a special occasion.

For those more relaxing evenings, grab your snacks from the kitchen before sinking into the plush sofa and tune into the state-of-the-art TV to while away a couple of hours before bed.

Once the evening comes to end, retire to the double bedroom, which boasts elegant furnishings and crisp white sheets to snuggle under after an action-packed day exploring.

From here, step into the impressive bathroom, where you have a spacious walk-in shower and a beautiful, freestanding copper bath.

Continuing to impress, the interior is completed by a second bath, where you can look forward dipping into the bubbles for an indulgent soak and set the light to suit your mood.

During a summer’s day, take your morning coffee to the picnic bench or enjoy a spot of lunch on the large lawn area and admire your surroundings.

Step out of the castle grounds and explore the winding streets and lanes of Stanhope, home to a plethora of pubs, specialist food stores, coffee shops and shops for picking up the essentials.

As you explore the market town you will also find a heated outdoor swimming pool, as well as charming strolls along the River Wear, or if you bringing your bike along, Stanhope is on the C2C cycle route.

For days out, be sure to venture to the medieval Raby Castle, set among 200 acres of deer park or visit Hamsterley Forest, which is home to a magnitude of scenic walks amidst endearing woodland with unique wildlife awaiting to be discovered.
