  • "Visited in November and everything was perfect for us."

Easy access, lovely and warm cottage. Extremely clean with all the facilities we could need. Nic and Tracy had kindly left a welcome pack which was very much appreciated and Nic phoned the morning after our arrival to make sure we were comfortable and ask if we needed anything. Would certainly recommend

  • "We had a great stay in Allam cottage."

It was in a great location, very quiet but a quick and easy walk into town, or down to the river for a walk. The cottage was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and well equipped (with sharp knives!) and we had a marvellous week. Only minor point to be aware of are that the duvets and pillows were feather, which may not suit everyone, and some coat hooks in the hallway would have been useful for wet coats. That said this didn't detract from a wonderful stay.

Nic and Tracey are generous hosts and the welcome pack was much appreciated. Allam cottage is very comfortable and set in a very peaceful part of Barnard Castle yet close to local amenities. It is ideally located to explore the local area its many attractions such as Raby Castle and the High Force waterfall. We really enjoyed the Kynren show at nearby Bishop Auckland which is well worth a visit.

Lovely beds. Excellent kitchen facilities. Shower fine. Good TV slightly marred by a patchy internet signal. Great to be in a town with loads of doggie walks literally on your doorstep. Lots of eating places close by. One very slight caveat was that we found the sofas a little low. If my elderly parents had turned up they might never have got up with a lot of help! But overall really nice and I would happily stay there again if in the area. Thoroughly recommended.

Cannot fault the service. The holiday accommodation was really lovely with top of the range furniture and furnishings. The cottage was centrally located with both the river and the shops being only 5 mins walk away. The cottage owners had done a tremendous job with cleaning the property (stayed during the Covid-19 pandemic) and we felt safe. They left plenty of cleansing products too. We appreciated the hamper of wine, beer, scones, sweets and flowers. The owners called on the phone to see if everything was ok with the property and I felt nothing was too much trouble for them. They were not at all intrusive and do not live locally. Would we return - without a doubt.
