  • "This is a lovely quaint little cottage in an equally lovely quaint village."

We arrived a little earlier than check in & it was a pleasure to sit on one of the many benches around the village green & read our books. The cottage had everything we needed & more. The welcome gifts of milk, bread, biscuits for both the humans & the 4 legged visitors were a nice surprise. Everything in the cottage was very clean & fresh. There was a folder in the drawer with instructions on how to use everything in the cottage. To say it’s such a little village there was a lot of traffic noise on night one which was easily solved by shutting the window! One thing that did make us jump was the noise that came from switching the upstairs taps on or flushing the loo. The water pump is located in the main bedroom & it was quite loud. We just made a pact not to flush the loo through the night! The village has a small shop, the bus shelter is a community book shop, there are 2 pubs in the village which both serve beautiful meals. We would highly recommend anyone give these a try. The location is great to go off exploring. We visited The World Of James Herriot museum in Thirsk which we would highly recommend. We would definitely come back to this location, it’s perfect for a nice peaceful get away.

  • "Booked this property very last minute for Christmas."

The negative review from a previous guest did worry me a little but on upon arrival I really couldn't understand why they were so negative. The cottage is cosy and well equipped with all you need incl a washing machine. It has a fab log burner and there was plenty of kindling and logs etc, much more tbh than in other cottages I've stayed in. The location is brilliant, just off the village green and perfect for exploring the local area. The owner was super friendly and helpful and happy to answer any questions. I would recommend and would definitely book again. Thank you for a lovely stay

  • "Great location with easy access to major routes."

The cottage is well appointed and benefits from a local shop and 2 pubs/restaurants and petrol station (good prices). The local bus shelter now offers a selection of 2nd hand books/DVDs/CDs to raise funds for the community. Lovely walks for dogs.

  • "I am writing to complain about 4 High Row Scorton and am following your procedures as noted on your website."

I have also emailed the owner but have had no reply. The TV is not working as no channels are available as the aerial is not picking up any channels. The fire stick (definitely not the Smart TV as marketed) has no password so again is redundant. The shower over the bath does not work with the attachment to make it a shower so has to be held in your hand but it comes out as a dribble and is the worst shower we have ever experienced in a holiday cottage. The light in the entrance hall does not work There is no food storage space at all in the kitchen bar the fridge To be classed as a cottage sleeping 4 is a push when there is barely any storage space and the living room is tiny with no room for 4 people to watch the tv (if it worked) I find the standard of this cottage disappointing to say the very least and would like you to look at a refund of some if not all of our rental. I will expect a reply within 48 hours as again stated in your policy and procedures. We are looking at cutting this break short and leaving early as it is not the break away from it all we envisaged as it is not up to the standards you placed in your write up on your website. To be expected to pay £900 + for a short break is an absolute disgrace. I am more than happy for you to place this on your website. Kind Regards Mrs Henderson

During correspondence with yourself throughout the week of your stay we explained how to access the TV channels using the Firestick and also offered to call in to demonstrate this. The TV cannot currently pick up terrestrial channels as the TV transmitter at Bilsdale has been damaged by a fire and is being replaced. All the same channels can be picked up using the Amazon Firestick. We have fitted the shower with a hot water pump so that the hot and cold water now mix much more effectively. Storage is provided in the Cottage through: fridge, freezer, worktop and cupboard space in the kitchen; and a dresser in the lounge. We are happy for guests to move crockery or furniture if they feel it will make their stay more comfortable. Please consult other reviews when considering booking. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was in a great location, the village has lots to offer food wise with easy access to visit attractions and dog walks."

Only 1 small issue was the shower, it is fed from the taps and has very poor flow, could do with an upgrade. Other than that thre cottage was perfect.
