  • "We stayed here late August, with my two Whippets."

What a fantastic place, very clean and welcoming. Was great to talk to Linda before our arrival. The views from the front of the property were amazing and although most evenings it was a little chilly to sit outside, we sat in the porch, wine in hand, to watch the wonderful view as the evening faded. 2 fantastic sized bedrooms with comfortable beds and a great bathroom with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Pictures do not do this place justice. Kitchen was well equipped with absolutely everything you could need and a great large fridge. The welcome pack was fabulous - loved the butter and the cheese. Great location with easy access to surrounding areas - we visited both the Dales and the Moors, Harrogate, Whitby and Barnard Castle. Would love to come back in the future. Linda and Richard - thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "This is a great bungalow which works well for anyone with limited mobility- there are steps to front and back of property."

The bungalow is well equipped, everything you might want to use is available. Decor is attractive, rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and the shower is hot with good pressure. I loved watching the birds and butterflies from the kitchen window each morning. Te welcome pack was great, lovely chocolate cake included! Bungalow is in a good location for sight seeing.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Hill View. We look forward to welcoming you all back again in the future. Kind Regards Richard and Linda Property Owner

  • "It was good to meet Linda whilst there so we have discussed all the positive things we had to say."

Nothing negative. The description and photographs don’t do full justice to the property. Hill View is a good place as a base to explore the area. It is comfortable enough to be a home from home. The people of County Durham are some of the friendliest in Britain.

Thank you for your generous feedback. I am pleased you enjoyed your time with us and we would look forward to welcoming you back Kind Regards Richard and Linda Property Owner

  • "Stunning cottage with amazing views in an incredibly peaceful location."

The beds were also extremely comfortable. It did take us a couple of hours to find the glasses for the delicious wine that was left in the welcome hamper - but it tasted just as good in mugs (note to anyone staying the glasses are in a cupboard hidden by an open door)

Thank you for your feedback and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again for a further visit. Kind Regards Linda Just to clarify. The location of the glasses is in the cupboard in the dining room. Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful place for my partner, our two Labradors and myself to spend Christmas!"

! The cottage was absolutely lovely in every way and everything was there that we required. We arrived in the dark and the outside lights had been kindly left on for us which made emptying the car so much easier. Once inside the property it was lovely, warm and welcoming. Due it being Christmas the cottage had been decorated with trimmings and two beautiful Christmas trees one in the dining room the other in the lounge. The owner had left a basket of local produce on the kitchen table for us and also in the fridge were items such as milk, cheese, eggs and a bottle of sparkling wine etc. (It had just been my Birthday.) The owner was so kind and at extremely short notice (22nd December!) organised for us to collect a free range turkey from the local farm shop the next morning (23rd December.) We were so grateful! The beds were very comfortable which meant that we both had a good night’s sleep. The views from the cottage are outstanding. It was lovely to sit in the bay window and look across the Durham Dales. The owner kindly let our two fur babies have the field at the back of the cottage to play in all week (normal the field has sheep in it.) The fur babies really enjoyed the freedom of the field. The cottage is perfectly placed for shopping at the local farm shop (five minutes) or the bigger supermarkets which are in Darlington (This is only a fifteen minute driveway). Also the cottage is in easy reach of places to visit and country walks with the dogs. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday and Christmas. We would love to come back.

We are delighted you enjoyed your time at Hill View and thank you for your kind and useful feedback. We look forward to welcoming you all back soon. Kind Regards Richard and Linda Property Owner

  • "Location was super peacful but with a dog friendly hotel with bar and restaurant within 5 mins walk and Darlington itself less than 10 minutes drive away."

The property itself - there are two parts that aren't clear from the photos but should be highlighted. 1) There is a rear garden that has a nice table and 4 chairs with small grassy area which is also very dog secure. 2) The fron garden includes a large grassy area to the right which is also dog secure. Our dogs loved this as it let them get a good run going. Also worth pointing out that the field behind the house had sheep in it when we were there. The fence however was very secure and the sheep had no fear of our dogs (quite the opposite). There was a great welcome pack of local produce (which included dog treats!) and the place was very clean. All the usual plates, cups, glasses etc. as you would expect and the equipment in kitchen was of good quality. Really enjoyed our stay - there is a lot to do in the area and this property was a great base we would highly recommend it.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Hill View and hope you return again soon Kind Regards Richard and Linda Property Owner

We loved staying in the cottage and experiencing all the local wildlife, such as sheep and cows in the attached fields and watching all the butterflies in the garden. The cottage had plenty of space inside and out and the views were lovely.

  • "The house is seriously under rated by the photographs!"

Hill View exceeded all our expectations, and is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Really cannot fault the service from the owners who were very keen to attend to any small questions we had. The views from the drawing room are simply outstanding. If we were heading in that direction again we would not hesitate to stay here.
