Clean , warm and very comfortable. A lovely quiet location with easy access to the dales and the lakes. We would most definitely stay there again. Ideal for getting away from the rat race. Beautiful area and location steeped in history. Very friendly, helpful owner who provided lots of information on walks etc, plus left bird food so we could see the many birds who visit the garden and patio area. We hope to return to explore further

Warm, comfortable lounge with log burner, large kitchen fully equipped. We had the en-suite bedroom, the bed was so comfortable and had a lovely hot shower. Our daughter, son-In-law and Grandaughter’s also enjoyed their stay. It is situated in a lovely peaceful, spot overlooking the countryside. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder and watching the black grouse flying around the cottage. One sat on the top of our car the grandkids loved it!! We also had the pleasure of sitting outside with a cup of tea on New Years Day. Took some great photos of the sunset too. We would throughly recommend cottage. Thanks again Linda and Neil Corfield and The Hobbs Family.

About the location

HURST

Reeth 5 miles; Richmond 10 miles.

Hurst is a small, scattered hamlet, formerly populated by lead miners in the 19th century, situated high up in the breathtaking moorland that leads over to Swaledale and Arkengarthdale. Nearby, the popular village of Reeth, which dates back to Saxon times, is dominated by its large village green and has a good range of shops, pubs and eating places. Askrigg, better known to millions as Darrowby in TV's James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small, along with Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft) and the market town of Richmond, with its castle ruins and famous Georgian Theatre, are within driving distance. The thriving market towns of Leyburn and Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese, together with Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum, are also places not to be missed. This area is the heart of Dales farming country, and by the time you return home, the famous Swaledale sheep will be a familiar sight! A lovely base for your Yorkshire break.
