  • "We had a fantastic stay at the Spinning Jenny (SJ)."

The apartment itself is beautiful, finished to a very high quality and decorated beautifully. Spacious, modern and relaxing. All mod-cons were available and David was close at hand via text in case of any issues (not that there were any). The Mill itself is also a beautiful building, rescued and modernised and looks great against the beautiful hilly sky line. You will not be disappointed. The surrounding views were beautiful with all sorts of places to visit. Well worth a long weekend or a base to visit for longer. We will definitely be back...

It has secure parking with plenty of space for an SUV, good views and is near to the small railway station with good value services to many worthwhile destinations, so one does not need to use a car every day. Skipton, only 10 minutes away, is an attractive small town and also has good supermarkets, farm shop, cafes and restaurants.

  • "My daughter, sister and I enjoyed a fabulous stay at the Spinning Jenny apartment in early September 2023."

To make it even more enjoyable we were there during the heatwave! The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equipped everything we needed was supplied. Lovely views across the fields from the balcony where it was still warm enough in the evenings to enjoy a cocktail, good company, relaxation and conversation. Convenient underground gated parking for our vehicle which gave us added security we really appreciated that feature. It was very quiet despite the railway being not far away. We enjoyed timeout in Skipton, Keighley and Harrogate during our week, in particular the famous Betty’s Café and Tearooms. The Bronte Parsonage Museum at Haworth is also worth a visit with the accompanying quaint shops and cafes. I must make a mention to a real hidden gem closer to home Coffee and Crumbs café just up the road at Kildwick where they serve excellent breakfasts, coffee and light lunches. I would love to come again for another visit with my family in the future and would highly recommend the Spinning Jenny.

  • "We stayed at Spinning Jenny for just over two weeks and had a lovely relaxing stay there ."

The apartment itself is spacious , very clean and comfortable and has all the facilities you need . With the station just over the road , it’s very handy for hopping on a train either towards Skipton or east towards Leeds . Otherwise by car , the Dales are within 30 mins to an hour away , so visiting places like Grassington, Settle and Malham are easy to get to . There are plenty of local places to eat , such as 22 The Square, an Italian restaurant in Crosshills , as is Zolsha’s , an Indian in Crosshills which will also deliver out to Horace Mill . the Tempest Arms in Elslack is also worth mentioning for lunch or dinner . David ( the owner of Spinning Jenny ) is very accommodating and gives detailed information about the apartment , such as directions, entry etc and places to visit . Lovely welcome pack on arrival as well !

Thanks Malcolm for your generous comments. Property Owner

  • "Excellent stylish apartment for us four adults, very comfortable and very well appointed."

Lovely outlook from all rooms and very comfortable beds. The location is very good for trips around by car or train. We have stayed in many excellent places in the Dales over the years and this is very much up there with the best. Would definitely return and recommend to others. A little downside is parking if you have two cars like us, one catered for within the basement the other out on the, at times very busy, main street out front and below! Lots of cars park here for the train station 100mtrs away.

  • "Perfect location for us, although some might not enjoy the close proximity of the train station and associated noises, particularly during the night."

The Apartment is modern, spacious and generally clean and the owner has provided much to enhance the comfort of the guests' stay. (We missed our Nespresso Coffee though!) Despite the Apartment block housing other holiday makers & permanent residents, we hardly saw anyone! This Apartment is by far the best we have ever stayed in and we felt the price was fair.

The apartment is amazing. Very near to the station and lots of good places to eat in Skipton. The views from the apartment are beautiful and underground parking is a big plus. Only things we'd really like here is a bigger bed, a double just a little snug for us. Maybe bigger bath towels. But we managed and really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely return no doubt. The owner is available by text for any queries and instructions are very clear. A beautiful apartment in a gorgeous part of the UK.

It was just as had been described. One of the best holiday properties we have stayed in. It was decorated and furnished to a high standard and very well equipped. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony - which was a lovely sun trap even in March with snow on the ground. The information on check in that we received from David was extremely helpful and being provided with a trolley to help move our bags from the car park was really useful. We are looking forward to returning.

It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped with everything you would need for a stay away from home. Fantastic location the village is beautiful with a shop and two local pubs. It is within easy reach of Skipton and other towns and villages nearby. The train station is only a stones throw away however we could not hear them or were disturbed by them on the contrary it was quite fascinating and relaxing watching and using them to get out and about on them; we only used our car once whilst we were on holiday. Communication and instructions with the host was excellent, from this I knew he wanted our stay to be as pleasant as possible. Thank you.

Thank you Donna. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The rail service is a great asset and I'm glad you were able to make such good use of it. The trip on the 'Settle-Carlisle' is particularly through the Northern Dales and Pennines and then along the Eden Valley. It is also the quickest way to Leeds, York and Morecambe as well. The property

Spinning Jenny is a luxury, contemporary apartment in the newly converted Horace Mill which is situated in the delightful North Yorkshire village on Cononley.

It is three miles from the vibrant market town of Skipton with a great selection of restaurants and bars, known as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Plus, there are regular trains to Skipton and to Leeds; it is no surprise that Skipton features so highly in polls as one of the best places to live in Britain.

Spinning Jenny makes for a wonderful dwelling for couples or a family of four who are embarking on their next adventure to Yorkshire.

Step into the apartment where you will first find a stylish bathroom, where you can indulge in a refreshing soak in the bath or rinse in the shower after a day of exploring.

There is also a handy utility cupboard housing a washer/dryer, perfect for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh!

Be welcomed into the spacious open-plan living area, where you can look forward to rustling up mouth-watering meals in the fully equipped kitchen, with the help of the electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, along with a dishwasher for those fuss-free clean-ups!

Gather round the dining table for four to savour a delicious meal, or if the weather is nice, why not dine alfresco out on the decked balcony where you can soak up the outstanding views of the rolling countryside as you eat.

As the evening cools, retreat inside to the plush sofas and snuggle up with a glass of wine, as you select some entertainment from the Smart TV with Netflix, enhanced by the SONOS sound system available.

The Village and Mill nestle in the Aire Valley and the apartment has outstanding views across the rolling countryside; you will wake up to these views from your bed in the morning and see them from the rest of the apartment as well as from the balcony in the evenings, whilst you sit back with a refreshing beverage and watch the grazing sheep and rabbits.

There are good walks from the doorstep and two good pubs in easy walking distance with excellent menu ratings; the Pennine Way, long distance footpath, passes about two miles away.

There is also a very good local village shop selling a good range of provisions.

The area has a huge range of attractions, it is a great base for touring, walking and cycling through the outstanding scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and Howgills National Park, the Forrest of Bowland (a lesser-known jewel) and the Pennines.

Enjoy great days out in Wharfdale, Airedale and Malham, Wensleydale, Dentdale, and Swaledale.

For the more energetic, scale one of the famous mountain peaks for sensational vistas; Simon Seat, Penn-y-ghent, Ingleborough, Whernside, Great Whernside, and Buckden Pike for example.

Then there are the two world famous historic sites, also accessible on the regular train service, one is Haworth with the Bronte Museum and the walk on to Bronte waterfalls and Top Withens set in Bronte country.

The other is the world heritage site of Salts Mill and Saltaire with their bars, restaurants and craft shops plus David Hockney exhibition.

While you are in Saltaire, why not pay a visit to the tap room of the Saltaire Brewery and sample one of its many craft beers like Saltaire Blonde?

Alternatively, you can visit one of the many historic towns in the area; these include Ilkley, Harrogate, Skipton, Settle, Appleby, Hawes and its famous cheese making creamery, Ripon, Knaresborough and York.

If you love historic houses, estates and gardens you will also be spoilt for choice, for instance: Ripley Castle, Harrogate; East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley; Castle Howard; Allerton Castle, Knaresborough; Fountains Hall and Abbey, Ripon and of course, Bolton Abbey, near Ilkley.

Don’t forget the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr near Harrogate with its own Bettys Café; no trip to the area is complete without a visit to at least one of the several famous Bettys Cafés (Skipton, Harrogate, York, North Allerton and RHS Harlow Carr Gardens)! There are a number of superb restaurants and cafes – even more if you include Leeds which is so accessible by rail; for a special treat there is the Angel at Hetton with its Michelin star, nine miles away.

If you enjoy scenic train travel, take a trip on the famous ‘Settle-Carlisle’ train line which takes you from Skipton through the western dales, over the high Pennine hills and down the Eden Valley to the beautifully restored Carlisle station on the west coast main line; plus, you can travel from Skipton and though the Bowland area to Lancaster and Morecambe.

For a special treat, change at Carnforth and go round the Cumbria coast to Carlisle and come back on the Carlisle, Settle, Skipton line – all possible in a day.

Great days out, ready access to a great variety of eating possibilities, and relaxing place to stay and sleep in preparation for more tomorrow; Spinning Jenny has everything you need for a fantastic break!
