  • "The property wasn't clean."

Dirty fridge with residues in shelf edges and standing water. Stagnant water left in washing machine. Toothbrush holder was disgusting, cobwebs on lounge light, dust and not sawdust as owner said all over utensils. Nothing provided to protect from heat when opening wood burner ( people had previously used oven gloves that were left black). Cobwebs all inside the extractor above the hob that could drop in your food. Headboard in main bedroom was all stained. The shower was advertised as a walkin but it was about 12" off the ground, the tiles on the step were wall tiles so were slippy. I have a back problem so had to be helped in and out by my wife. The shower curtain was dirty and a linen lined bin in the bathroom is not hygienic if people have to dispose of sanitary items. The bathroom smelt of drains. Road noise was non stop and that's no lie. You have to reverse up the slope if past two parked cars and try and avoid the railing, pulling out is completely blind into a main busy road. The fire extinguisher was in a cupboard rather than being wall mounted as it should be. We had a pleasant stay but that was down to the area we visited. If you want a quiet relaxing stay this is not the place.

  • "The cottage itself was clean and spacious however on arrival it was 3 degrees outside so I would have thought the heating might have been on for a little while."

The parking was non existent. We rang the owner who said park near the gates at the top of the road however this is impossible as it would block her neighbour in. Her neighbour spoke to us irately which wasn’t great on arrival This cottage should not be advertised as parking available. We had to park 0.8 miles away . The photo on Sykes website showing a gate leading to fields is false information as there is no gate leading to fields in fact there isn’t even a back yard space for dogs which meant each morning and night and during the night we had to take them out rather than just letting them out for a few minutes especially as it was raining and cold . Had we known there was no outside space we would not have booked this cottage . Also when booking through Sykes I wanted a place in Howarth this was actually in Keighley so had to drive each day to access Howarth. Overall a disappointing experience with Sykes Cottages

I'm sorry the property didn't meet your expectations, however, we make it as clear as possible that there is no outside space as well as advertising that we are 1.3 miles from Haworth with Keighley further afield. Parking is again as advertised; you can park 2 vehicles outside the property as agreed with the neighbouring property. I'm sorry you found the property cold but when you called me to ask about the heating you had already been there 3 hours and the heating had already gone off. Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay in your beautiful cottage."

Everything we needed was there. The busy road was not good, either to park or cross especially with a dog but the park opposite was very handy. We visited everything we wanted to and the cottage was a good base for that. Thanks for your hospitality.

Comfy bed, nice shower, & cupboards full with all you need in the kitchen. Struggled with the WiFi code as asked for account name too. Bottle of wine & biscuits much appreciated.

  • "We really enjoyed our short stay a this property."

It was clean and in good repair with everything that you could need for a longer stay than our weekend. We have a large car so we found access and exiting from the parking space tight, the snow didn't help either. All in all a great property, and a responsive owner.

  • "This cottage is just off a very busy road and traffic noise can be a problem in the early mornings."

The terrace is rather narrow and has other cars parked in close proximity, it is necessary to either reverse in, or ask a passenger to Make sure the road is clear before reversing out.

  • "Parking was very difficult and the busy main road was noisy and too close for comfy."

The cottage is not suitable for dogs as there is very little outside space and nowhere to safely walk them except along the main road. Overall the cottage was acceptable although the kitchen area could have been cleaner. On arrival I made two cups of coffee, unfortunately one cup was so badly cracked it leaked the coffee out. Not a good start!

I am sorry you were disappointed, but the description does not state that there is outside space, we are happy to accommodate pets in the property and there is a park only 5 minutes walk from the property. The main road is at the bottom of the road but I don't think you would be bothered by the noise of the traffic unless you had all the windows open. I cleaned the house to a very high standard and the cups have been checked this morning and I am unable to find any that leak, I did provide you with my mobile number and asked for you to contact me if you had any problems. Once again sorry for your disappointment. Property Owner

It wasnt stated that we would be next to a very busy main road, the noise of the traffic didnt let up during the night, parking outside the property was not a good idea, as to try and pull out it was a blind spot from the right hand side, you could of had the front of your car of, the cottage itself was lovely but not a great location

  • "The directions you give are incorrect."

Vernon street is not the street to turn into at the end of the journey, it is Woodville terrace, one street further on on the left, albeit only by a few yards, had to ask someone, and they kindly showed me where the cottage was. Important as manoeuvring in the narrow short streets is not easy, so going into the wrong one is an issue.

  • "Worth cottage lodge is lovely in its self but add the beautiful surroundings and you’re onto a winner."

My top places to visit were- Bronte village; it’s heartwarmingly pretty with an eclectic mix of cafes restaurants, pubs and shops to chose from. Bronte waterfalls- nature at its best and Goit waterfalls- stunningly beautiful. I downloaded the free AllTrails app to find these walks- it works well.

  • "Superb little cottage, extremely clean with lovely shower."

Owner left nice bottle of wine and cookies and messaged to check we were settled. Directions on website could be better, ie cottage was not opposite working mans club. Parking was outside cottage and we found it best for one of us to check for gap in traffic before pulling out onto the very busy main road. We had the worst weather, wintry showers, winds, rain everyday with temperatures around 4 degrees at times, which you wouldn’t expect for May. WiFi and mobile signal good, so spent lot of time watching Netflix and Amazon Prime. Washing machine meant no washing to do when got home, which was great. Despite weather, we enjoyed our break and would recommend this cottage.

The welcome basket was very thoughtful & very much appreciated. Haworth isn't too far away and we enjoyed our walks to & from there. Lots of lovely cafes & unusual shops. There are a few local shops which was handy and a park nearby. The only thing we found difficult was the parking which was a bit awkward.

A bottle of wine laid in a basket with some lovely biscuits was a nice touch and a warm welcome. The cottage is clean and decorated to a high standard. We could not get a mobile phone signal in the house, which was nice in a way and peaceful, but we did have access to WIFI,Netflix and Prime. About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
