  • "Our third stay, and it was extremely disappointing."

Came home two days early, due to no internet, and an electricity problem. We arrived on Thursday, and had internet only intermittently, but on Friday morning it had disappeared altogether. I tried turning it off and back on, also doing a reset, but to no avail. I informed Simon, who said that he would ask the provider to check the line. The line was said to be in working order, but we still had no internet.I had no phone signal at the cottage, and each text/ call to Simon involved a rainy walk of some distance, in order to be able to send it. Due to the current health issues of a close family member, it is essential for me to be easily contacted. On Monday we had to travel to Ripon (some 12 miles away) to use the free Wi-Fi at a well known bar chain. On Tuesday evening at around 7.30 pm there was a loud pop, and we were plunged into darkness. The only thing on was the TV, none of the lights were working.I walked in the dark up the road to call Simon, who said that I needed to go to the fuse box and flick the switch. This was in upstairs in the bedroom, behind the bed. I explained that finding my way upstairs and moving the bedroom furniture to get to the fuse box, in the pitch black, would not be easy.A torch we located in a kitchen drawer had a very weak light and kept going out altogether. I guess that it needs new batteries. We gave up and had an early night. We found the switch next morning and power was restored. It seemed that a blown light bulb may have been the cause.A couple of plug-in rechargeable Nitesafe torches which would illuminate in the event of a power cut, one both upstairs and downstairs, would solve this problem. Having had no internet for five days, and worried about the possibility of further electrical problems, we decided to leave two days early.

  • "Although this property is for 4 people we found the cooking area cramped and didn't find it comfortable to cook for 2 people."

The upstairs area has a lot of space and the beds were comfortable. The cottage is in a courtyard with a pub a few feet away from the property. As the cooking area was cramped the pub served very good food. The cottage was a convenient place to stay for the activities we wanted to do. At the time of our stay the roof was leaking and the double bed got wet.

Easy access to walking trails from the doorstep, bakery, butchers and supermarket all within a minutes walk. Great cafes and pubs, The Royal Oak is worth the walk over the bridge for dinner, great pub food. We would definitely return if holidaying in the area.

  • "Another pleasant stay at No 5!"

The cleaning lacked a bit of attention to detail, and one loo roll between two loos, seemed a little miserly ( fortunately the shop isn't far away). I do realise though, that this isn't the fault of the property owner, rather the changeover company. Other than that, we had an enjoyable stay, and look forward to returning.

  • "Couldn’t fault the cottage on cleanliness, equipment and communication, when the smoke alarm beeped the owner told us how to re set it, a different blind in the living room would save having to keep it closed so people can’t look in, the only downside is the noise from the pub at the other end of the courtyard."

The cottage is central for walks and the shops and free parking was a bonus. We had a lovely week with our grandson and good weather, food at The Bridge pub is delicious, all in all a great holiday.

  • "Great cottage."

Upstairs is lovely and spacious and light. Downstairs is compact but has everything you need. Not a lot of natural light coming in downstairs but that's just the layout. Everything we needed was already there and available with extra towels and linen if required. We never came across the board games it mentions that are in the living room unless they're in some hidden cupboard. Pateley Bridge itself is wonderful. There's lovely River walks and plenty of lovely chatty people about. There are many coffee shops/cafes and we went to the Royal Oak pub with an amazing steak and ale pie and a wonderful barmaid. We'd certainly return and we'd be more than happy to return to this cottage too. Thanks.

  • "Although the general facilities were okay we were vrry disappointed by the black mould in the bathroom especially the shower door area."

There was nowhere to sit outside and sharing the "courtyard", which was basically a thoroughfare, with the pubs outdoor seating area was extremely noisy. The door key was a problem and needed much effort to lock and unlock. We loved Pateley Bridge but went home 2 days early as we did not enjoy the position of the cottage.

  • "The cottage is very comfortable, clean and tidy, with everything we needed."

Downstairs loo was a bonus. Parking as described, with the Free car park on Park Road, only a minute away. The cottage is well located, with a two minute walk to the butchers, bakers, and takeaways. Our only slight difficulty was the lock on the front door, which seemed rather temperamental, and maybe needs a maintenance check? All in all a lovely time was had, and we would love to visit again.

  • "We enjoyed this holiday so much we immediately booked another week in September."

The cottage is very clean and well provided with everything needed, although it’s a pity there is no private outside space. Pateley Bridge has lots to do - good shops and great walks and very well located to drive to nearby places such as Ripon and Ilkley. The cottage is well located within Pateley Bridge, close to shops, eateries and fabulous walks from the doorstep. A perfect holiday! A few things need attention though. Some of the blinds can’t be raised properly, the bathroom door can’t be shut, let alone locked, and most importantly, the front door lock needs replacing. It always took several attempts to open the door, the key spinning round to no avail.

  • "Location was great for seeing Pateley, but rather noisy in the morning being next to the pub with deliveries and bins being emptied."

The cottage itself was lovely just a couple of things which could be improved - the bathroom door is really hard to close, the toaster trips the circuit breaker and you can’t see the markings on the oven so it’s hard to know what settings your cooking on. Other than that we had a lovely stay.

Parking Free and Paid, was nearby, as stated in the listing and the paid parking was quite cheap and reasonable. The cottage had everything that you would expect and need. The shower/bath and heating was very good. A great cottage, which I would recommend!

  • "The cottage is in an excellent central location close to all the amenities in Pately Bridge."

Initially parking looks a bit awkward but with a bit of effort looking there's a nearby car park (on Park Road) and on street parking not far away. If you don't want to cook there is a pub and two take aways withing 5 minutes and more takeaways/pubs within a 10 minute walk- you definitely won't starve! Personally I've problems with my right leg and all the furnishings are very low so caused me some trouble, but if you're able-bodied you should be absolutely fine.

Central location was perfect for all village amenities - including great food at The Royal Oak - and ideal as a base for beautiful Nidderdale walks. Broken shower was a big disappointment as one of our party has difficulty using the bath, although we appreciated the problem in getting it fixed. Plenty of hot water though and bathroom nice and warm with heated towel rail. Bath cleaner would have been helpful. Beds were super comfy; loved the soft duvet & cover, plentiful supply of towels and spacious upstairs. Just to let you know, neither of the can openers worked & we missed having kitchen tongs & scissors. All-in-all, a good value-for-money quaint little cottage. We had an amazing few days. Thank you!
