Only minor comments but matching wine glasses, there were only 3 pasta bowls, frying pan not great and only one shelf in oven - however managed to still cook well each evening

Well equipped and clean. I will definitely be rebooking. The only one very minor thing is the picture of the lovely outdoor recliner chairs are not included in the cottage which is a little disappointing especially as the weather was nice. Wooden ones are there instead which aren't very comfey. Apart from that is was a perfect cottage.

The property itself is stunning, lovely garden to sit out in and enjoy the scenery, beautiful kitchen where all can sit down and enjoy food, four lovely big bedrooms and two lovely bathrooms, couldn't have asked for anymore!

  • "We chose this cottage due to its proximity to Bolton Abbey where our daughter was getting married at the Tithe Barn."

The cottage is high up in a stunning location with fabulous views across the valley. It was beautifully clean and well appointed with lots of unexpected extras in the kitchen and lovely flowers that matched our daughter’s bouquet. The eggs from Judy’s hens were very well received. There is a lovely enclosed garden safe for children which our small grandchildren enjoyed. The hospitality we got from Judy was second to none and she welcomed the various comings and goings of hairdresser, beautician, bridesmaids and the photographer. Later in the week friends came to stay and the cottage was good for close friends. The weather wasn’t great but it didn’t spoil our week. I would recommend this property to families and close friends. I have some lovely photos of the cottage but unfortunately this feedback does not allow me to send them. Thank you Judy for a memorable week.

  • "Look for a smallish painted white plaque by the drive which leads up to the property, owners aware and might have now highlighted the cottage name."

A comfortable cosy cottage - home from home, with underfloor heating and a log burner. Well kept outside area with superb views from the rear garden. Lovely welcome starter pack :- loaf, dozen eggs, butter, milk, jam, biscuits and lemon drizzle cake. Well stocked larder cupboard with a comprehensive assortment of condiments, oils, sauces, tea, coffee etc. A freezer would be handy for longer rentals. Bedding higher end range quality. The hosts were friendly, knowledgeable and approachable - along with the cat, dogs and chickens. There are designated walks by the property. Great base for touring the area. Could easily have stayed for longer.

E.g underfloor heating. Really well maintained and lovely homely touches throughout. Owners live on site but you don't see them unless you need them. They are, I should add a lovely couple. Showing my little girls the orphan lambs and letting her feed them made her holiday. Location wise, you are not as central as being smack bang in the national park. You are however close as you can get, with amazing views and without paying the price for it. Overall best Yorkshire cottage we've stayed in, and we have stayed in a few. Thankyou Mark and Judy for a lovely break.

Our holiday was for 4 couples, celebrating a 30th birthday. It was great that we could have the beds all as doubles, and each bedroom was comfortable. The bath tubs are also huge! The cottage is in a beautiful setting, with walks straight from the front door. The free range eggs Judy provided us with were a lovely bonus, and the local farmer even gave us a chance to learn about sheep shearing which was great. I'd highly recommend this cottage, and we'll certainly be back. Sarah and John x

About the location

SILSDEN

  • Bolton Abbey 8.5 miles
  • Ilkley 8.5 miles
  • Skipton 9 miles

The pretty town of Silsden, set on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, commands sweeping views of the River Aire and its valley, and has a thriving community with local amenities. Although Silsden was originally an agricultural town, the construction of the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal meant that it later became an important centre for the mill industry, however the local economy is now largely supported by tourism, and it has become a perfect place to stay and explore the local area. Down the Aire Valley lies historic Skipton, known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, a quaint market town boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008, the Academy of Urbanism voted the high street as the best shopping spot in Britain. In the next valley lies Addingham, a thriving, small community with several good pubs serving fine ale and excellent food, a scattering of small shops and a delightful golf course surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the Strid is a must. The Victorian Spa town of Ilkley is also worth a visit, with its wide streets, world-famous Box Tree Restaurant and Bettys Tea Rooms, while Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”. With steam railways offering regular excursions through stunning scenery, canal day trips, castles and pretty market towns all available nearby, Silsden is a wonderful base for touring the Bronte Country and North and West Yorkshire.
