  • "A very comfortable and warm cottage in an ideal location for walking and exploring the Dales."

Despite the less than clement weather (Storm Henk) over the New Year we still got out everyday, with fabulous walking from the door, and the layout of the cottage was perfect for getting off soaking kit and drying Riley the dog in the large utility room before entering the main house; the excellent heating system being perfect for drying everything out ready for the next days adventures. Despite of, or perhaps because of, the very wet weather, it was always a pleasure to return to the cottage in the evening, cook dinner, settle in front of the log burner, and then retire to the very comfortable beds. It would have been lovely to sit outside and enjoy the garden and views, Perfect for a Summers day!

  • "Very comfortable."

Very clean. In the ideal position. Our dog loved the close proximity of the sheep. Thankfully the garden was fully enclosed which is always a worry with a pet. There is an issue with tv which has been reported in the visitors book. This was also reported by the previous occupants There were no instructions on the WiFi which caused an unnecessary text There were no instructions as to what to do with waste as indicated would be there by Sykes. All in all an excellent stay

Hi David, so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The issue with the TV was due to BBC upgrading to HD only and has been resolved with a new TV. Wifi instructions are in a book in the cottage and could not be simpler as you can log straight on, no codes required! Property Owner

  • "The Cottage is in a superb quiet restful location with great views."

The double bed was particularly comfortable, and overall we had a very good holiday. There were several areas where we felt let down, especially the sofas which were very sagging, tired, low and extremely uncomfortable, that I found them to be unusable and couldn't understand why they are in this cottage. I had a very constructive dialogue with the owner, and understand that several issues will be addressed in due course.

Thank you for your review, as you know i was away when you stayed in the cottage, I always appreciate constructive feedback. I just wished you had called me whilst at the cottage rather than once you as left as some of the issues could have been resolved whilst you were still there. Property Owner

Cottage was basic, and do agree with previous reviews, that the sofas were very shabby and dirty, and should be replaced, to meet Skye’s cottages standard.

Loads of great venues close by and pubs which although pricey due to their captive audience are full of charm and character. Lovely host Helen who came to greet us and answer any Qs we had. Unfortunately we were plagued by wasps at the cottage so couldn't sit out, but I think this was just unlucky timing as other venues we visited were aswell. Very comfortable cottage well kitted out. About the location

BURNSALL

Grassington 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.

A delightful village in beautiful Wharfedale, Burnsall is situated on a bend in the River Wharfe and is framed by the dramatic backdrop of Burnsall Fell. The oldest building in the village is thought to be the 12th century church and the lovely village school is one of the oldest in Britain. Perhaps the most famous feature in the village is the bridge - a traditional Dales bridge with five stone arches. The river meanders through the village and with an extensive village green and magnificent walks in the area, this delightful area makes a superb base for exploring the Dales and all it has to offer. The village itself has a pub/hotel, and a tea room, whilst nearby Grassington and Skipton offer a fuller range of amenities. Children shouldn’t miss Burnsall’s river 'beach' - just a few minutes' walk away and a 'must' on a sunny day!
