“Many thanks to the owner for moving his car so we had sole use of the driveway.”

Well equipped cottage, warm and cosy. Surprised at no welcome pack. We’ve never stopped anywhere where there was none. Minor point, could do with new pillows. Cottage well positioned for walking and exploring the Dales. Pub in Village very welcoming and good food.

We have a large driveway with plenty of room for 3 cars. We park our little car on the right leaving two spaces (much larger than in a typical Car Park) for guests on the left. Guests are normally perfectly happy with this arrangement. Rather than provide welcome gifts we've decided in all three of our cottages to focus running costs on providing very good quality furnishings and fittings. Over time we believe this has resulted in very good Guest feedback. We look to refresh pillows and any other furnishings showing wear every season and we will take this feedback on board, thank you - Sykes owner relations

About the location

CARLTON-IN-COVERDALE

Leyburn 5 miles.

The attractive and traditional old village of Carlton-in-Coverdale lies in one of the Yorkshire Dales’ best kept secrets, Coverdale, a narrow valley flanked by imposing fells. Historically, Coverdale was a main packhorse route over the moors into Wharfedale and Skipton. The village is comprised of traditional old stone-built homes, a few farms, guest houses and the village pub, The Foresters. The river Cover runs below it, in the valley. Carlton sits beneath Roova crags to the south and Penhill to the north. Nearby is the Forbidden Corner, a great day out for all the family with its adventure gardens and restaurants. Leyburn, the closest town, is 5 miles away, about 15 minutes’ drive. It has several restaurants, cafes, pubs and two supermarkets. The village of Middleham (4 miles) also boasts several pubs, restaurants, and a well-stocked local shop. It is a lovely village best known for its famous racing stables, the 'Gallops' and its Norman Castle which dates back to 1190
