  • "We have just returned from our third stay at this beautiful cottage and are already looking forward to our next visit."

Every comfort is catered for. The weather was extremely cold but the heating and log burner made the house very warm and toasty. Thanks again Dagmar and Martin! p.s. A big shout out for The Foresters Arms - we were made to feel very welcome and the food was delicious!

  • "Booking reference C3A6B- 23-EN We stayed at Coverdale cottage in Carlton in Coverdale last month and cannot recommend this cottage highly enough."

The cottage is lovely, warm and cosy, yet spacious, and the perfect holiday home. It was lovely to meet the owners of the property, who live next door. Their care of the house is so evident in all the extra little touches they have considered, to make this such an outstanding property. The house is well equipped, the bed so comfortable, extra duvets should you need them, fluffy blankets to cosy you up in the lounge , not that we ever needed them, the house was always warm with a really efficient heating system. Just so much thought gone into little details, there are some lovely paintings on the walls for you to enjoy. The position in the lovely small Dales village made it a very restful rural retreat and with a really good pub five minutes walk away, what more could you want. We have stayed in many rental cottages over several years, but this is definitely one of the very best. Linda and Pete.

  • "This was our sixth successive visit and its getting harder not to repeat our appreciation of the cottage from our previous reviews!"

As usual the property was spotlessly clean, and our hosts Dagma and Martin very welcoming and accommodating, particularly when we had friends over to stay in the second week.Milk, flowers and a loaf of bread were awaiting us when we arrived which was a lovely touch. Coverdale is a real gem, just a little off the beaten track, but within the Dales National Park and close to Leyburn which has all the amenities and shops you could wish for. The varied local walks, whilst very familiar to us, were all a delight, due to the verdant meadows and late summer flowers which have benefited from this years high rainfall. The local pub (The Foresters Arms) is in its second season of new management, and is a wonderfully welcoming dales pub, with great food and local Wensleydale brewery beers. One of the joys of this property is the beautiful garden with its mature herbaceous borders and large lush lawn and the sun trap seating area, lovely to enjoy breakfast in. We may be back for a seventh holiday as it is difficult to find a cottage and surroundings quite this lovely!

The cottage is lovely: sensitively modernised without losing its traditional character. The garden and private patio are the standout features of the property - we particularly enjoyed croquet on the lawn. Coverdale is a hidden gem of the Yorkshire Dales - close to the tourist centres but a world apart.

Our fifth holiday at Coverdale Cottage. As ever our hosts Martin and Dagma gave us a warm welcome and the cottage was beautifully presented with everything you could wish for a two week vacation. The garden is a real plus for us with huge amounts of space to relax in after a days walking. We love Coverdale, it is one of the lesser frequented dales but well connected to the rest of Wensleydale and via the other end of the dale to Wharfdale, with a great local village pub and walks straight from the door. We find the cottage perfectly appointed for visits from friends and family as it has ample space and flexibility for several guests.

The cottage is in the traditional Dales style and has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining its original character. It is spotlessly clean and equipped to the highest standard. A big attraction for us is the outdoor space - a private patio and a large and outstandingly beautiful garden. Whilst the latter is shared with the hosts, their discretion makes you feel as if it is yours. We also love the location in Coverdale which feels off the beaten track despite its proximity to bustling villages like Leyburn. It’s a paradise for hill walkers with routes from the door in every direction and an abundance of bird life - we particularly enjoyed the curlews and plovers. In short, the property has everything for a relaxing and memorable holiday. We’ll certainly be back.

Well equipped cottage, warm and cosy. Surprised at no welcome pack. We’ve never stopped anywhere where there was none. Minor point, could do with new pillows. Cottage well positioned for walking and exploring the Dales. Pub in Village very welcoming and good food.

We have a large driveway with plenty of room for 3 cars. We park our little car on the right leaving two spaces (much larger than in a typical Car Park) for guests on the left. Guests are normally perfectly happy with this arrangement. Rather than provide welcome gifts we've decided in all three of our cottages to focus running costs on providing very good quality furnishings and fittings. Over time we believe this has resulted in very good Guest feedback. We look to refresh pillows and any other furnishings showing wear every season and we will take this feedback on board, thank you Property Owner
