We have stayed in this cottage before in 2011, when our son was a baby, we have just returned, he is 3 now, very child friendly place, near lots of attractions and parks in the surrounding areas. The cottage itself had everything we needed, the kitchen is well equipt and the living room is cosy with the open fire. I have read some other reviews on here, and we didn't notice a smell of oil, and as well the single beds are all fine (and very comfy) we slept in all the beds! We really like it in the Yorkshire Dales and will be returning next year. Just a note, we managed to get a good mobile phone signal at the window of the main bedroom

About the location

CARLTON-IN-COVERDALE

Leyburn 5 miles.

The attractive and traditional old village of Carlton-in-Coverdale lies in one of the Yorkshire Dales’ best kept secrets, Coverdale, a narrow valley flanked by imposing fells, historically dating back to the old mines and packhorse trails. The village is made up of traditional old stone built dwellings, a few farms and guest houses. Nearby Middleham is a lovely old village best known for its famous racing stables, the 'Gallops' and its Norman Castle which dates back to 1190, plus there are also several pubs, restaurants and a cafe here. Towards the south lies the equally famous village of Kettlewell with its pretty centre, two lovely old pubs and the River Wharfe winding its way down through the dale. Nearby is the Forbidden Corner, one of the Yorkshire Dales' most intriguing attractions.
