  • "Lovely cottage, all new facilities and everything you need for a perfect stay."

Ideal location for exploring the Dales with easy access to Skipton, Ilkley etc. Next door to a friendly traditional pub serving superb beer. Welcome pack was a pleasant surprise. Ideal for a couple. Only one toilet (upstairs) so maybe not so good for two couples. There is no on site parking (as stated in the description) so you have to park on the road outside but we always found a space relatively close by.

  • "Beautiful property in a great location."

Friendly pub next door. Easy to find the property and great communication from the owner prior to our stay, we felt very welcomed to their home. Brilliant base to explore the area both walking and driving, we didn’t use the train but seemed a busy and well connected station. Evetything you would need is in the property for your stay. We look forward to booking a repeat stay

We spent our wedding anniversary here and was perfect. Alina was so friendly and helpful. Left us food and drink on our arrival which was a nice touch. Very beautifully decorated house and very clean and tidy. The pub next door was no trouble - didn't even hear them. Very happy with our stay would highly recommend.

  • "The owners have spent no expense in making this cottage a home from home, everything you could wish for is included."

there are 3 TV's including a 65", a jacussi bath, king size bed and Neff kitchen appliances. The owners are happy to help in any way to make your holiday complete, there is even a welcome pack when you arrive. Car parking is on the road just outside the property. There is a pub next door but the noise is very minimal if people are sitting outside.

It has all the mod cons and the owner is super pleasant and on hand to support. It is located close to the Yorkshire Dales so perfect base to explore the great walks/scenery that this part of the country has to offer. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.

  • "What a fantastic cottage, Mrs Hinch would have been proud!"

The pictures make the cottage look amazing but it is even better in real life. Prior to the holiday we had a lovely chat with Alina (owner) who gave some great recommendations as to what to do and where to go. Alina was really friendly and happy to answer any questions we had during our stay. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. We loved the little signs in the cupboards directing us to extra glasses or sharp knives. When we arrived, Alina had arranged a welcome pack which was over and above our expectations - bread, milk, biscuits, kettle chips, treats for our daughters, even bubble bath and shower gel a lovely touch that we didn't expect. The beds were really comfortable too. Location-wise, it was perfect for us. Both pubs are really welcoming; we could have used the very regular train to Skipton in the evening too but we didn't need to. We would definitely recommend visiting Bolton Abbey, especially if you have the fantastic weather we had. We all had a fantastic holiday and we will definitely return - something we don't usually do, but we would love to stay here again. Thank you York Cottage!

It is located in a pretty and small village but close enough to Skipton if you need to do any supermarket shopping. The property is fully renovated and exceptionally clean. The owner was very helpful and kind during all the stay; she even asked about our preferences for some welcome items and she kept in touch all the time so check if we needed anything. It is very comfortable with all facilities. There is no parking but we parked on the road in front of the property. The pub is next door but the noise did not bother us. The owner was very helpful and said we could contact her if we needed anything. The train station is nearby, with trains to Skipton and Leeds. There is easy access to the road network to visit places of interest ( so many places to visit within 1 hours drive). There is a play park nearby , a couple of minutes walk away from the property.

  • "Every little detail has been thought of at this cottage - all the toiletries you could ever need."

All your condiments in the kitchen. Alina even rang to ask what kind of bread and milk we preferred. The only negatives would be two things that the owners can not control - phone reception (you have to stand at the front door, ) and parking on street is at a premium.

  • "York Cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales."

Alina, the property owner was absolutely exceptional with her kindness and attention to detail. On the one occasion I contacted her, she was very quick to respond and to ensure that we were having a good holiday. The village of Cononley is well connected by train and bus, enabling us to leave the car behind on many occasions. The village is charming and you can begin walks from the front door. We would recommend the walk to Lothersdale which has a great pub serving excellent food and beers, although a little pricey. (Beware, the footpath sign in Cononley reads Lothersdale 1 mile - it's nearer to 3, but only 2 miles taking the road home - downhill!). The only downside of York Cottage was that the pub next door to the property, The New Inn, no longer serves any food, which combined with the closures of the Chinese Take Away and the Post Office/ convenience store, mean that you need to have food with you on the first evening. It's a very friendly pub and worth going in for a drink. We were lucky enough to have good weather but that meant that other drinkers sat out until late on the Friday and Saturday evenings, with associated loud conversations and car door banging. Other than that it was a quiet village with not much through traffic, mainly just tractors taking their hay bales up the hill (keep your wing mirrors in on you car.) We haven't given the property full marks for comfort because with the downstairs configuration, it's impossible to curl up and watch TV after a hard day's walking. All in all, we would still recommend this cottage to others because the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.

From initial contact with Alina it is clear that the priority is to have a pleasant and relaxing stay. The little extras included as part of the welcome are very nice touches and to us showed she cared and one text halfway through just to check all ok was a nice thing, We would have no hesitation in recommending this property as a 5 star and would re-book if returning to the area.

  • "York Cottage was absolutely beautiful."

The property was renovated to an extremely high standard, tastefully decorated with absolutely everything you could wish for. It was spotlessly clean. The village was postcard perfect, friendly people and a choice of 2 pubs (one 11 steps from York Cottage!) and a railway station with excellent services to Skipton, Leeds and further afield. Back to the cottage. The owner, Alina telephoned me on the morning we were due to arrive to ask what kind of bread and milk we wanted as part of our Welcome Pack (a really nice, personal touch) - she could not have been more friendly and approachable and kept in touch by text for the duration of our stay (without being intrusive) to ensure we were happy and continued to offer help if it was required, day or night. It was an absolute privilege to stay in her holiday home and we will, without question, be making many return visits to York Cottage. If you are looking for an escape from it all holiday with a taste of country life and a bit of luxury then this is the place for you

Seating areas not comfortable to enjoy sharing family time for more than 2 people. We had not appreciated that the property is attached to a pub. There is no outside seating space at the back and the front is directly onto the road. The pub beer garden looks directly into the kitchen and the front is next to another outdoor seating area of the pub. As we were lucky and it was very hot, a number of people were visiting the pub, it was quite noisy as they spilled out to enjoy the sun. (we live in a very quite village so others may not find this an issue) The property was very clean and the owner had left a very nice welcome pack. Everything you would need in the kitchen.
