  • "This was our second stay at Crag View and once again, we had the most wonderful time!"

The cottage is beautiful - absolutely immaculate but warm, cosy and comfortable! Location is ideal, too with a multitude of lovely places to walk on the doorstep. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "Absolutely perfect!"

This was our 7th year, spending Christmas in Yorkshire, and Crag Cottage in Embsay has now become our firm favourite. The village itself was full of charm. Christmas carols at the pub on Christmas Eve made it very special; with a sense of belonging to the village. Locals were warm and friendly and welcomed us. The cottage was inviting and cosy and had everything we needed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the fire was the perfect gift, after a long, cold walk. The dogs particularly appreciated it. We enjoyed beautiful walks, long and short, from the doorstep and the hike up Embsay Crag was definitely worth the view. A trip to Bolton Abbey took us on a very long walk, alongside the river, with a stop off at the café along our way. The courtyard, at the back of the property, was perfect for the dogs and was very secure. I couldn't recommend Crag View Cottage more, especially if you're looking for comfort and a place to unwind in the beautiful, Yorkshire surroundings. We will most definitely be booking again. Many thanks to the owner for her clear instructions and easy communication.

The cottage was well located for walking and to nearby pubs. Cliver's attention to detail and the lovely touches such as the Prosecco and biscuits made it a memorable stay - we plan to be back soon!

Unsure about the Aga cooker, but got used to it easily. Lovely to have some basics in, ie tea bags, sugar etc, some milk would have been a bonus. Embsay is a quiet village with some fabulous views, and walks on the doorstep. Two pubs serving food, brilliant. Couldn't fault the holiday cottage, amenities, and position whatsoever. Would definitely stay again.

  • "We enjoyed our weeks stay at Crag View and the property lived up to expectations."

Clover very kindly allowed us to have our granddaughters for a sleepover one night and they were delighted with their room. We took them on the steam train from Embsay to Bolton Abbey which was a real treat for them as they had never been on a train journey before. We’d strongly recommend it to other visitors to the Dales. We’ve been staying in that part of the country for almost 50 years and always find something different to do. Billy Bobs ice cream parlour was an absolute hit with the girls and the weather was ideal for a day at Bolton Abbey playing in the water and a walk to The Strid never disappoints. In the past, my husband’s parents used to take him to Kettlewell and fish for tiddlers in the river Wharfe. We did the same with our three and now the third generation of our family love doing it too! Simple pleasures are always the best. The Scarecrow week was still being held at Kettlewell when we were there and we actually took our own children to the very first festival about thirty years ago! Our granddaughters found it very amusing. The Elm Tree in Embsay, virtually opposite Crag View, serves very good food and The Three Sheep in Skipton, is a favourite Tea Shop of ours. Skipton Woods is another clear favourite to exercise our two dogs. The Prosecco and truly delicious ginger biscuits were a welcomed gift from Clover and the kitchen was very well equipped. The large fridge freezer, not typical of cottages we’ve stayed in over the years, is certainly a welcomed feature and the kitchen units are clean and modern. All in all, an extremely pleasant cottage but we did find the pink sofa bed in the sitting room to be very uncomfortable. I’d recommend that Clover replaces it for a more “back friendly “ one in the future. There are notices at the top and bottom of the staircase warning guests of the steep stairs and to use the handrail. I strongly recommend other guests to take heed of the signs. The beds are very comfortable, again not typical of a holiday cottage. You chose them well Clover, we slept like babies

It was just as clean, cosy, beautifully equipped and comfortable as we remembered. Clover's communication with us prior to the visit was excellent and on arrival we discovered that she'd remembered we use oatmilk with a carton of our favourite in the fridge and fabulous veggie treats. We loved the eggs from Clover's rescue hens too. This is just the perfect location for walking and visiting the southern and western Yorkshire Dales. This time we ventured to Ribblehead with ice and snow and breathtaking views, got soaked to the skin walking around Wharfedale and sat on a bench at dusk watching the world go by in Grassington eating our packed lunch. Beautiful area, fabulous cottage. We'll be back again!

We are so glad we found this fabulous cottage. It's spotlessly clean, super comfortable, warm, spacious, extremely well equipped, right opposite a free car park and close to a friendly pub. The lovely attentive host, Clover, left lots of thoughtful treats for us including our favourite vegan oat milk and she responded really quickly to texts. Lovely big shower which was easy to operate with plenty of fluffy towels and well placed hooks, and the bathroom had surface and cupboard space for toiletries, something other cottages don't always accommodate. The cottage is perfectly placed for visiting the villages of Burnsall, Grassington, Linton, Kettlewell, Starbottom, Appletreewick, Bolton Abbey and the beautiful walks and cycling around them. It's a short drive to Skipton too. As a birdwatcher I was delighted to see sand martins and dippers as well as skylarks and curlew and a host of other birds in the area. It was also easy to get to Ingleton and the fabulous Falls Walk - highly recommended. A week in the Dales flew by and we'll definitely be back!
