  • "Foxglove is a little slice of home from home."

It’s perfectly cozy for a week’s stay and has everything you might need to be comfortable. It’s ideally situated beside the Leeds to Liverpool canal where you can stroll for miles. In addition to this you are only a few minutes walk from a gorge little cafe or if a tipple is your want, then a few steps further is the White Lion Inn - where you will receive a warm welcome, good chat and excellent food and drink. What more can you want from a cottage break in Yorkshire?

  • "Lovely location with great pub nearby."

We enjoyed cycling along the canal and hillwalking around the area. The cottage was very nice, the kitchen well equipped and the bed comfortable. A major downside for us was that, in a very cold week in winter time, downstairs living area and kitchen was uncomfortably cold without the woodburner on (not practical to put on all the tine) There is a small electric wall heater set on a timer that the owner did adjust for us but it is just not man enough to heat the whole area in the winter. The kitchen has no heating and was literally like a fridge! I did ask for the extra mobile heater that the guidebook said was in the cottage, but was told they were using it next door so we weren’t given it! The owner did tell us that he would be upgrading the heating which is needed if they want to let the property in the winter. In the meantime I would suggest they put in an additional heater that guests can put on when they feel they need it.

Very cold. Lived a week in bobhats and throws even coats at times. Not sure if radiators big enough for rooms. Cottage in good location

We are sorry that you did not feel able to contact us about this at any point during your stay. If you had, then we would have been able to sort it out immediately. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Foxglove."

The cottage is in a great location, walks, coffee shop, pub all on doorstep. Cottage spotlessly clean and well equipped with all the basics for a comfortable stay. Comfortable bed - I noticed the lack of mattress protector- am I fussy or is this essential? Personally, we did not like the over bath shower as the bath is high sided, this made climbing in/ out tricky for us fit but still over 70 oldies. Also not possible to park outside cottage on several occasions. Made us realise that we like allocated parking. Overall , a great little place, though for us, just a few niggles.

  • "Beautiful cottage and location with great facilities."

The only downside is the shared garden. Had the weather been nicer and we had wanted to sit outside then there is not a lot of space and we wouldn't have any privacy. Also, if both holiday cottages are accommodating dogs, the shared garden could also prove difficult.

We had all that we needed and everything was perfectly clean and really tastefully done. Thank you very much. We thought perhaps one small additional thought would be to keep a local OS map of the area on your book shelf and maybe write down some ideas for good local walks.

The cottage was very well equipped, the bed was extremely comfortable and we very much enjoyed the outdoor space. Being so close to the beautiful canal was wonderful for walking the dog and the White Lion pub was great for food, drink and a warm welcome - from very helpful staff. We would highly recommend a stay in this cottage.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Foxglove Cottage."

The house was spotless and very comfortable. Lovely location near the canal and parking easy outside the door. The little terrace was a suntrap when it finally came out. It would be good to have a way to give a quick boost to the heating on cooler days but we were mostly out and the burner kept the place nice and toasty in the evening. Would definitely come back. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

  • "A lovely property."

Great for a couple like us on for a long weekend. The property was well kept and the owner had added Christmas decorations, which was a nice touch. Parking was fine - we managed to park directly outside most of the time. It was in easy reach of plenty of towns and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Easy to find [thankyou Satnav] and parking was no problem - either outside, or across the street in a small layby."

The cottage was immaculately clean and well presented - a bottle of wine on the table and tasteful, minimalist, Christmas decorations, were equally appreciated. Loved the oak furniture and the solid oak doors throughout the cottage. The bed was very comfortable and it was good to see the countryside from the upstairs window; albeit a distance away, and to spot the incoming weather! A well appointed modern bathroom, although, for those of a certain age, care is needed when stepping into and out of the bath : ). We used the multi-fuel stove, as I was suffering from a bit of a head cold, and appreciated the extra warmth it gave. Took a while to get used to the controls, but it gives out good heat. Poor weather, along with an aim to relax, meant that we only did a couple of canal walks, but really good to have this facility so close. Everything you need is in the kitchen, although it can be a little on the cool side when the wind blows from the west, however, the curtain isolates it nicely from the cosy lounge. There is the pub a short walk down the hill and a short walk further, a small Co-op at the garage roundabout, which has the basics and wood supplies. All in all, a pleasant Christmas break.

Not sure why washing machine not listed, unless it’s due to lack of any obvious drying facilities? Key safe location could be described better, and would be useful to have some hooks on back of doors (esp bathroom), but those are trivial points, the cottage was generally superb.

It is ultra clean and decorated to a very high standard. The location is fantastic for touring around and visiting different places, but equally there are some lovely walks from the door, most notably the serene canal walk, and the walk up to the 'Pinnacle' (just at the top of the road) has breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and countryside. All in all, an excellent break. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend! Many thanks!
