  • "The cottage was clean and very comfortable from the minute we arrived."

Cosy living space and bedroom, and the kitchen was compact but very well equipped. Good main bathroom with an excellent shower. Cottage is in a lovely, very quiet location within easy reach of both Masham and Ripon.

The only issue is that towels are no longer provided and I feel this needs to be more prominently highlighted by Sykes in the booking details.

Quiet situation, very well kept & clean & the garden was a joy. The perfect place to relax & enjoy the lovely surroundings. We had expected towels, as shown in your advert but we managed ok. The bed was comfortable, everything was beautifully presented, in fact a most enjoyable stay altogether. Thank you.

Glad you’ve enjoyed our cottage, sorry about towels we are finding it very difficult and expensive to keep replacing them for lost/damages so thought guest would not mind bringing their own. There should be hand towel. We will review this in time :-) thanks again for positive feedback Property Owner

All the appliances are of good quality and everything was clean and well maintained. One very small thing. It would be good if there was a book or sheet of do's and don'ts instead of notes on the back of doors. It wasn't until Thursday that we saw the notice about the drive in and out. We just followed what the neighbours did and no one said we were going in and out the wrong way. Not sure why the straight drive is a walkway only seeing as the neighbours drive up and down all the time. Other than that, we are looking forward to booking the cottage again as soon as we have time.

Thank you for the lovely feedback Sorry about the drive, it’s a long story about rights of way, too long to tell. Will consider do’s and don’ts book thanks again Property Owner

After some argument the owners eventually visited and changed the temperature settings on the control system which got it working - although the timings were awry. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay in a pleasant location. We would be reluctant to return or recommend as we understand the heating has been removed from the property description and is to be turned off. Anyone coming will need to bring a week's supply of logs!

As owners we struggle with guests like this. thank goodness they are few and far between and thank you to all our wonderful guests that really enjoy the cottage and all the lovely features it holds. We tried our very best to sort out the problems of this guest but we can never achieve the unachievable for some, please read all the feedback we get for ivy cottage before you judge it. Further necessary details about what we needed to bring with us were relayed to us when we spoke to the owner about key collection. The cottage is very comfortable and in a lovely location with a super view from the back door. The fact that we could walk to Hackfall Wood from the cottage was very pleasing and to make the most of our location we made two very enjoyable visits there.
