  • "If you adore Haworth and the history of the Bronte family, this is a great place to stay."

You can see the famous Christian church connected to the Bronte family from one side - and the main square from the other window. I will certainly stay again in the future.

  • "This was one of the most unmaintained accommodation that we have ever stayed in."

The fridge has no dial to adjust temperature so froze all food put in. The oven was so dirty when I turned it on I had to open all the windows. No sure if the bedding was clean didn’t smell fresh but that could have been the pillows and quilt. The accommodation upstairs is also owed by the same owner and yes it’s an old building but you can hear every movement from upstairs. We were also told to place any rubbish from the accommodation at a public bin where we live this is illegal to leave what is trade waste at a council bin. Also the owner stated to Sykes he has spoken to myself twice the weekend we stayed which was a lie as I raised my complaint with Sykes as that was the booking agent. Book with caution for this property.

We have been in contact with Karen through Sykes for several weeks now regarding her stay. She stayed for a week-end and when she got home, she wrote a long letter about her stay at the apartment and we addressed her comments, one by one, at the time. This online customer feedback includes new comments made many weeks after her stay. We have responded to all of her comments already but I will deal with some of her previous and new complaints below. The fridge has a control dial marked from 0 to 6. On her departure, we checked the dial and it was set at maximum number 6. I have never seen a fridge without a control dial. We have already told Karen this. The cleaner did forget to clean the oven and when told afterwards, she was very upset that she missed it that morning. She lives around the corner and said that if she had been informed at the time she could have popped back. We have already told Karen this. There is an extractor fan above the oven to clear any fumes etc. We have already told Karen this. The comment about the bedding not being clean is a new extra comment and we take this as an insult. All bedding including sheets, duvet and pillow-cases are of course prepared clean and fresh for every guest. As this comment was added after her original comments, I can only think that any smells she claims to have noticed were most likely at the end of Karen’s stay. Haworth is a popular tourist destination and the council van collects any rubbish from the street and bins early every morning. We tell our guests this, as, if they are on a long stay and have a build-up of rubbish, they can take it outside. The apartment is in a prime location and does not have any wheelie-bin space (along with many properties in this area). We have not told anyone to break the law. For some reason, Karen has gone to extraordinary lengths to complain about everything possible. What you read here is the second set of comments made by her and does not include things like the fact she said there was a fire hazard in the kitchen. This was because she found some crumbs in the toaster tray. She stayed for a week-end, had my home and mobile number and we could have addressed any problems at the time. I truly hope that Karen can find peace and happiness on her next week-end away. Property Owner

Amazing location!! Howarth is such a lovely village. Parking easy with car park just behind next row of houses. The flat was very nice, clean, warm, and characterful - we had no issues at all. Steam train was fun, and drive across moors to Hebden Bridge is pretty. We counted about 10 pubs all within walking distance, though only went into half of them. We would happily return to this flat for another stay.

It was beautifully decorated and fitted out, scrupulously clean, clearly well cared for and very comfortable. The welcome basket of wine and chocolates was a lovely thought too. The location is excellent, right in the centre of the shopping and eating area, yet quiet enough to relax between trips out. The only downside is not having off-street parking but it’s only 100 yards or so to a local authority car park that only charges £4 for 24 hours so that wouldn’t put us off coming again. • "Nice place, friendly people, good food and beer."

If you want to visit the Bronte Museum you couldn't get a closer accommodation. The apartment was nice and l would agree with what most people have said about it. Clean comfortable and well resourced. As the accommodation is self catering it would have been nice to have had a free cupboard to put food in as all the cupboards were full of various bits of kitchen equipment. The integrated fridge unfortunately had a broken freezer drawer when we were there so couldn't really use it, it wasn't a major problem for us and I'm sure they were going to have it fixed soon. It rained alot when we were there so the steps to get in to the apartment at the back got very slippery. Not a big problem just needed be a bit careful. People have said about the noise. We found when people rented the accommodation above we could hear them moving around and as we had the bedroom window open we could hear the people out side the pub next door when they were going home but this was only one night and only for a few minutes. The church bells ring every quarter for an hour which was nice but they're quite close so if you're a light sleeper this might be something to consider. However they only rang on Saturday Sunday and Monday when we were there I think they broke down. Personally we would have liked to have seen pictures of the bathroom before booking because the toilet area is really quite small, the shower and basin are fine but the loo is in a very tight spot! That said we would rent the accommodation again as I think the accommodation is well worth the money.

You do need to be agile enough to cope with steps at the property entrance and to the first floor, and of course walk the steep village street. The facilities at the property are excellent, the central heating was efficient and the water hot when needed. The "Welcome" basket was a nice touch. Everything we used worked. Obviously we appreciate this being an older building the floors were creaky, naturally so. However we did not know we would be on the first floor and someone would be above us. The choice was not listed on your website. Also, as we know the area very well, we were looking at the photos, as we did not want to be near noisy pubs, with say, smokers standing outside. Your photo does not show the pub !!! However, saying that, as we were out of season, it was not a problem. These are very minor points but I know customer feedback is very important and we are hoping to look at Wales for next June and will definately look at your company again.

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
