  • "Maria cottage is an ideal place to stay in Haworth, situated in close proximity to all the local amenities."

The cottage itself is exceptionally well-equipped compared to other accommodation, so there is no need to rush out when you first arrive. The cottage is beautifully decorated and everything worked perfectly during out stay. Car parking wasn't an issue for us because we used public transport during our stay. The local buses and trains are very reliable and a great way to explore the local area. We particularly enjoyed walking through the park to see the steam trains and watching the birds in the garden. Even the weather was pretty decent given that our stay was in mid-March! I would definitely recommend Maria Cottage to other travelers looking for comfortable accommodation in the Haworth area. We very much hope to return to the cottage in the not too distant future.

Owner is very friendly and gave some good recommendations for our stay and also arranged our parking. We arrived late on Friday night and really appreciated the goodies left for us; wine, cake, milk and tea and coffee, this meant we didn't have to go straight out to the shops upon arrival. We have a had throughout enjoyable visit and will definitely look to return soon!

  • "Loved our stay at Maria Cottage!"

Everything was wonderful. Location is perfect and we managed to park on the main road with no issues. Really handy to have CoOp within walking distance. The only thing I was surprised about was how busy the pubs and cafes get in the village. They seem to have a lot of reserved tables so maybe consider booking if you fancy eating out. We loved the pizza and burgers at the Treehouse Bar and Kitchen near Spar supermarket.

  • "Fabulously clean and well maintained cottage."

Over 3 floors, and the stairs are quite steep. Also a high step to the front door so bear this in mind as it won't suit everyone. Host has provided everything you could need for a home from home and communication was excellent before arrival. The welcome gift was most appreciated! Instructions were provided for all appliances, information for things to do locally and the cottage was cosy and comfortable. We arranged with the host to park in the car park at the top of the hill and, although main street is quite steep, there are plenty of quaint shops on the way to provide plenty of rest stops. Ideally situated for visiting the Bronte Parsonage and the wider area, either by car or on the steam train to Keighley. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • "Maria Cottage is a beautiful holiday home in a perfect central location."

The bath was amazing (especially after a long day of walking), which was why this cottage was chosen over others. Very handily, buses to Hebden Bridge and Keighley are only a few seconds away from the front door, with direct links to Manchester and Leeds from their train stations, so you can get here very easily by public transport. The beds are very comfortable, and all rooms have lovely decor. Very kindly, we were left croissants, tea bags, jam, prosecco, and cake by the owners, which was such a warm and welcoming surprise (thank you!). The only issues were slight confusion over the bins and garden, a folder of information was found in a cupboard, but it didn't explain things like how to use the oven, which garden was Maria Cottage's, or what you could / couldn't put in the bins, like glass. In Haworth, the green bin isn't the recycling bin, and it would be handy if this were made clear in the folder or on the bin itself. These are only minor things, and the cottage is worth well over five stars. I would 100% recommend staying here if you're looking for somewhere cosy but modern. In terms of Haworth itself, Villette bakery and cafe is a must-visit for their Fat Tyke and the walks around here are endless and incredible. It's a wonderful part of Yorkshire with so much for you to enjoy and explore.

What a gorgeous place to stay. Everything was perfect, it was a cold week but cottage was lovely and cosy. Spotlessy clean too. We parked car in the car park suggested by owner and never needed to use it all week. Everything was near by. We did the Bronte walk and Railway Children walk straight from the front door. Great pubs on the main street and we had some yummy bar meals. Owner of this property is very accommodating and left us some nice treats. Would definitely stay again in this cottage and Howarth is certainly memorable.

Imagine the stairs a bit steep for folk with mobility problems. The only thing missing for us was a coffee table on which to play cards and place drinks (we improvised) as there was no room for a dining table the owners had put two bar stools at the work top (which was ideal for two) but as a group of four we used the sofa and chair, hence a coffee table would have been ideal. Had a lovely break, (could have stayed longer) and much appreciated the welcome gift of cake, bread, butter, milk coffee and prosecco. Thank you to the owners, lovely cottage.

We didn't really come to explore Haworth as we were trying to find somewhere to stay near relatives in Skipton, but even so, it was amazing to find ourselves right in the middle of Haworth and so we did have a little explore in the end! Expected it to be tiny but it actually felt quite big, steep stairs so not right for people with limited mobility presumably, but perfect for us with children aged 8 & 6.They LOVED the barn door. Rooms gorgeous, beautifully decorated. It felt very comfy and homely. Clean and high standard of fixtures and fittings. I have to say though that after reading the reviews that talked about the great welcome trays, special goodies on arrival etc etc I was really disappointed to find no basic supplies such as milk or tea and coffee. This is fairly standard in most rental properties these days and after travelling a fair distance it was awful to have to then go looking for the nearest shop to get some fresh milk and coffee. There are also no instructions in the manual in the house to direct you to the nearest shop so I had to walk up and down the street asking passers by. Don’t be put off by this though the cottage is lovely and it’s in a great spot but just make sure you take your basic supplies with you. The closest shop by the way is the spar which is a 10 minute walk through the park

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
